Michael Sam Drafted by the Rams, First Openly Gay NFL Player!

Michael Sam has officially become the first openly gay player in the NFL after being drafted by the St. Louis Rams!

The 24-year-old football player was the 249th pick overall. He was originally expected to get drafted in an earlier round, but gave a disappointing performance at the NFL Scouting Combine a couple months ago.

“I wish you’d say, ‘Hey Michael Sam, how’s football going? How’s training going?’ I’d love for you to ask me that question,” Michael recently said at the scouting combine when asked about his sexual orientation (via Huffington Post). “But it is what it is. I just wish you guys would see me as Michael Sam the football player, instead of Michael Sam the gay football player.”

Congratulations to Michael on being an inspiration to many! He will soon be receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs in July.

If you didn’t want it to be the focus of your career you should have kept it between family and friends, not the world. Because honestly there was no need for you to go on tv and announce it. Therefore, now you will be know as the gay football player. You probably thought it would get you some brownie points in the draft but it didn’t.

How disgusting. What an example to set for the youth of America. Remember .00001 % of the population are gay.

A little maturity Sam. If you want people just to ask about football and not your sexual orientation; maybe you should stop posting video’s of you & your boyfriend kissing for everyone. Geez. I don’t post things if I don’t want people to ask my about it even on Facebook. Common sense.

Private life should be kept private regardless of sexual preference. What’s the big deal anyway? Who gives a flying fig about what gets you off? Nothing to do with football. It’s a macho sport so why on earth do you think announcing that would get you drafted higher? Carry on

Idiot, if you wanted it to be about football not the gay thing, you shouldn’t have brought it into the picture. With you, (as long as you last), it will always be a gay thing.
