Sophia Bush: Everyone Should Fight For Female Empowerment

Sophia Bush heads into her local Starbucks for an iced drink after a workout in Los Angeles on Friday (May 9).

The 31-year-old Chicago P.D. actress recently spoke to Huffington Post Live about female empowerment.

“Honestly, I think it’s not just our job because women’s empowerment can’t just be something that women are pushing for,” Sophia shared.

She added, “It has to be something that we’re all pushing for. And we know statistically and we know historically that communities are better when women are empowered, so you and me can do the work, but the men around us have to do it too.”

FYI: Sophia is wearing a Wilt tee.

    Coca-Cola Says:

I agree with her on a couple of things. I think it is a positive thing to empower women and for women and men to team up for it. But at the same time, as I woman, I’ve seen so many women bashing each other and being horrible to one another. Some men can be difficult with women but most of the time, women are each other’s biggest enemies.

It’s a great plan but it’s a little delusional and naive though. Everybody should be seen individually.

    Janice Says:

Well, I’ll believe it when I see it. If she says such a thing she needs to do something about it. Words and great dreams are ok, but I want to believe her and know that it’s not some PR statement or Fake flattery to other women.

    Meg Says:

@Janice: If you follow Sophia on Twitter or throughout her other interviews, you’ll see that she’s one of the few celebrities who use what fame she has to better her self and help others. She uses her vacation time to help charities and travel to less fortunate countries to help, she donates all the time, she goes to conferences to speak on empowerment, poverty, equality, helping animals, etc. Her Hollywood red carpet outings are usually something to help the previous stated organizations and eco campaigns. Sure she does a party or premiere here and there, but when she says that she wants to help others, she’s not all talk. You might want to see what she’s working on to see how she’s trying to empower others. I’ve found her annoying at times over the years, but I know her heart is in the right place and I know that she cares. It’s much more refreshing to see a celebrity who’s not stuck up and using projects where they ‘do for others’ to only benefit themselves.

@Coca-Cola: That’s what she’s talking about women and men to help empower women so that they don’t spend their days breaking others down.

    Sasha Says:

I think she’s getting more beautiful with age.
Sophia used to always have such a cute baby face.
But now she’s has a more mature face and she’s gorgeous.

    Wow Says:

@Sasha: She didn’t in the first two seasons of OTH. She had this really great bone structure and a much slimmer frame (she was also 21 lol), and I remember being so envious of how amazing she looked. She is STILL gorgeous and has a great figure, but somewhere after she married Chad she developed a chubbier face and now it’s beginning to narrow out again. But, regardless of her size and age, she’s always so pretty.
