Malik Bendjelloul, Director of Oscar Winning 'Searching for Sugarman' Dead at 36 - Brother Confirms Suicide
Malik Bendjelloul, who’s film Searching for Sugarman won an Oscar last year, has committed suicide at the age of 36, the AP reports.
The 36-year-old Swedish director passed away on Tuesday (May 13), his brother Johar Bendjelloul confirmed, in a suicide.
“Life is not always simple,” Johar said of his younger brother’s death. “I don’t know how to handle it. I don’t know.”
Johar also confirmed that his brother had suffered from depression for a short period of time.
