Cristina Says Goodbye to 'Grey's Anatomy': Season Finale Recap!

The episode that we have all be waiting for, but really have been dreading all along, has finally arrived and Sandra Oh‘s character Cristina is no longer a part of Grey’s Anatomy.

The 42-year-old actress revealed last August that she would not be returning to show as she felt she didn’t have anything else creatively to add to the program. This gave the writers enough time to conclude her storyline and wrap up any loose ends.

Next season, Grey’s Anatomy will be moving to the 8pm time slot on Thursday nights and ABC will be making the evening a full Shonda Rhimes night!

Cristina (Sandra Oh) put off leaving the hospital for her new job in Switzerland for nearly two weeks. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) had to talk her into getting on the plane, after they made some friendship deals. After all, she’s “her person,” and vice-versa. Before she left, they had a dance party in the on-call room and it was the perfect scene, set to Tegan and Sara‘s “Where Do the Good Go,” which was a staple in the first season of the series.

Shane (Gaius Charles) decided to go with Cristina and continue to work with her.

Meredith couldn’t sign the papers to go to D.C. and decided to stay put. Derek (Patrick Dempsey) was not happy and they ended up in a big argument over the priority of their careers.

After a terrorist threat on the hospital, April (Sarah Drew) had doubts about having the baby, but in a surprise twist, Jackson (Jesse Williams)’s mom convinced her otherwise.

Cristina left Alex (Justin Cambers) her shares in the hospital and her seat on the board! Even though the Chief Webber (James Pickens Jr) already offered it to Bailey (Chandra Wilson)! That should make for an interesting dynamic next season.

In the end, Chief Webber was approached by the girl who will be replacing Cristina at the hospital, and it seems that she turned out to be his illegitimate child with Ellis Grey?!
