Television's Leading Ladies Grace THR's Latest Cover & Dish on Their Shows!

Television's Leading Ladies Grace THR's Latest Cover & Dish on Their Shows!

Keri Russell, Claire Danes, Julianna Margulies, Vera Farmiga, Sarah Paulson, and Jessica Pare take the cover of THR‘s latest issue.

Here’s what the ladies had to share:

Keri, on her explicit The Americans sex scene from season two: “I actually fought against that scene. I just didn’t know if that was the best emotional place for those characters. I wondered if there was a different physical act that could be happening other than that one. But they thought that it had to be something that the daughter was walking in on that was so much more graphic than just sex and then keep her from walking in again. It’s funny, though; sex has never been something I’ve done in my career — at all. But I don’t mind it on this show. It may be the nature of them being spies helps inform the characters. It’s not sexuality for sexuality’s sake.”

Claire, on the death of *spoiler alert* Brody on Homeland: “[Killing him] was supposed to happen in the second season. Then the Carrie-Brody relationship became so captivating for audiences that Showtime wanted to extend it. We had been anticipating the finale for quite a while. We shot the scene [where Brody is hanged] on our final day working in Morocco. It was all very heightened, literally. The crane broke at one point. I still don’t think I’ve really processed it.”

Julianna, on roles for women: “But we’re so lucky. First of all, roles written for women are so much more complex on television. The film world is becoming quite flimsy for women. It’s so lovely having been doing this since I was quite young, and now to see all these movie stars wanting to do TV … there’s no real differentiation anymore, except to say you have a steady job. That feels so good.”

FYI: Claire is wearing Jamie Wolf earrings. Sarah is wearing an EF Collection bangle. Jessica is wearing an EF Collection ring. Keri is wearing Dana Rebecca Designs earrings.

This is exactly what I hate about Hollwyood. What about Kerry Washington, Sandra Oh, Tatiana Maslany, or Danai Gurira? These women are actually changing the face of television.

How come Jessica Pare is included for Mad Men when Elizabeth Moss is clearly the female lead of the show and by far the best character. This is annoying. Also, I totally agree with the Tatiana Maslany and Kerry Washington comments.

Unlikeable and not at All importante Jessica Pare and no Kerry Washington?! Not that I’m her biggest fan but, come on!!!

# 7

Well, Anna Paquin is one of the most famous and powerfull leading ladies on TV and she has never been on this.

God all black people do is whine.. If it was sports illustrated and it was 5 blacks athletes ,. You wouldn’t see white people post ” how come there is no white person in the picture” .. You people are barely 13% of the American population.. There doesn’t always have to have the token black person on every cover and in every movie and every tv show..especially since you have half dozen mags of only black celebrity .

Is it the same person writing about Kerry Washington, who cares if she is included there are many people missing , Scandal show is a joke, not criticality acclaimed at all .

@Jennie: I was hoping the first post would point this out! How could they forget Kerry?!? What a shame:(

@Janice: I count 6 women. 100 white. America is nearly 40% non-Caucasion. So at least 2 of those women should be ‘other’. We just ask for fair representation, since we’ve been here for over 1/2 millennia! Is that too much to ask for?!? I think not.

Thumbs up to everything @Reba wrote. As a Latina woman myself, I would have been pleased to see Sofía Vergara included as well as the other ethnic women

@Janice: No one is whining about race on the posts above you. They just want Kerry Washington on the cover because she is an actress in a TV show and is the lead.

EXCUSE ME, BUT WHAT ABOUT KERRY WASHINGTON?????? NEVER GOING TO BUY THIS MAGAZINE AGAIN!!

The magazine cover wasn’t representing America but women on hit TV shows so the cover ‘should’ NOT have featured token minorities, #11.

And did anyone of you consider that a pregnant Kerry Washington simply wasn’t available for this shoot?

kerry had a baby, guys. maybe she wasn’t able to go!!
ps: missed kerry as well!!
