'Arsenio Hall Show' Canceled Despite Getting Renewed

Sad news for Arsenio Hall and the fans of his late night talk show – it will not be returning for a second season despite getting renewed earlier this year.

“Unfortunately, The Arsenio Hall Show will not return for a second season; while there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue,” CBS Television Distribution said in a statement. “Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.”

“When I started this adventure with CTD and Tribune, we all knew it would be a challenge — I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created,” Arsenio said. “I’d like to thank everyone on my staff for rallying around me and striving to make the best show possible every night.”

Wow, very sad and surprised to hear! I thought he was entertaining, much for than Kimmel or Letterman.

Those 66.6 Jews at CBS suddenly dumped him for no real reason because he was starting to get too friendly with yours truly.

Don’t sit there and act surprised…u feel sorry for it being the second time for him….his show was awful, nobody wants to see a man make jokes and gossip about women…nobody should put others down especially not him, no looks and the past struggle about his show, but he was heartless at going in on ppl….karma
God giveth and taketh away!!

I feel sorry for him!

Enjoyed his show tremendously and feel its politics once again involved in his show being cancelled. I agree with some of the other viewers when they say his show is as good if not better than the other late night host. I feel if you renewed his show for a second season tell us how all of a sudden his show gets cancelled. I smell a rat don’t you?

Not surprised. I am surprised that Conan is coming back. Box Arsenio and Conan are afterthoughts to the main late night shows.

Maybe some will disagree but the show just wasn’t good. The show was too nostalgic. He didn’t know how to be current. And he had the worst guests on. Every time I watched, the guests had nothing to talk about. Literally. And why could Fallon get the First Lady and Arsenio got T.I.’s wife Tiny who doesn’t even have a career anymore (besides being on a reality show)? That made the interviews extra awkward because it was like ummm why is this person on the show. And the opening bits weren’t funny at all. There were a lot of elements wrong in the show.

His last show in the 90′s was canned. Who green lit this garbage program again?

I knew it was over when people were begging for Seinfeld re runs instead of Arsenio. Good guests on the show but those skits and lame sidekicks were horrible.

A very good show. Better than Conan and the rest of those night talk shows. MUCH better.

Loved the show. Arsenio’s charisma and wit is enjoyable.

This is a shame considering the show was good. Good host, well picked guests. Better than those other guys.

That’s so weird that they would renew a show only to cancel it later on. Why couldn’t they do that with Glee? Their ratings are in free fall.

I remember watching the original Arsenio Hall show. Like Ricki Lake, he was great in his era which was around the early 90s but unfortunately you can’t recapture that moment.

It was good but not the best. Lacked intriguing guests. It seemed like the guests were always people who were simply his personal friends, empathetic much?
