Mila Kunis & Channing Tatum's 'Jupiter Ascending' Pushed to February 2015

The release date for Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum‘s new film Jupiter Ascending has been moved to February 6, 2015!

The sci-fi thriller was scheduled to hit theaters on July 18, but was delayed because more time was needed on the visual effects.

“We’ve been trying like hell to get this finished,” Dan Fellman, Warner Brother’s president of domestic distribution said in a statement. “But there are over 2,000 visual effects shots in the movie, and it’s just not gonna happen in time.”

    Ugh, why do men wear low waist jeans? Ashton, Kanye, Jay Z, they all seem to love wearing one! Ashton’s about to fall off, lol:)

    There’s 2 reasons why this movie may have been bumped;
    1. Warner Bros. may not want to write off 2 big budget failures in 1 summer, Edge of Tomorrow being the first (Maybe).
    2. February is a known movie dumping ground so Jupiter Ascending could make up some financial ground. No competition.
    No matter when you release this turkey it’s going to flop.

    Nobody will miss this garbage film.

    No movie goes from a blockbuster month to a dead month because of visual effects. They moved it because they know it’s a flop. It’ll probably still flop in February, but at least then it’ll have a chance.

    @reckless 1983: and floping in the Box Office. It’s out in many key territories and it only made 20 mil. Also, domestically TFioS is biting EoT’s αss in Fandango, so…… @Verity is right!

    January/February are usually the months of bad movies. As somebody said before me, they are probably trying to save it from becoming a flop. I like Mila and the rest of the cast seems interesting, but the movie looks stupid. The visual effects are okay, since they are from the Wachowski brothers, but overall it looks bad. The story, the action sequences…if it was released this summer it would probably have been a bigger flop than Transcendence.

    @bb:

    What key territories? Japan? China? Russia (where Oblivion did well)? It’s opened in only 28 countries. Also, it made $3 million on Monday which is equivalent to roughly 15% of the film’s total weekend business. WB reports that Monday overseas figures are 10-12% ahead of the norm that Mondays usually represent.

    EoT opens in 36 additional overseas territories, which include China, Russia, South Korea, Mexico, France, and Australia on June 6.

    Doesn’t sound like the key territories have been tapped and still too early to say it is/will flop.

    @reckless 1983: Sadly, great reviews and word of mouth do not always translate into big box office. I’m going to see it, hopefully others will too.

    Mel Says:

    Lol they don’t need to take AGAIN 9 months to make vfx , this is just because Mila is pregnant and that she will not be able to do the promotion …. (or cause this will not be a good promo for the movie) it’s only for that . you will see , next feb , after sport etc , she will look amazing (like Emily Blunt for example )

    stick a fork in this one. its done. this already expected awful movie now pushing back the release date. this will be an epic fail comparable to the john carter disaster.

    @Verity:

    even though I very much dislike tom cruise, edge of tomorrow is getting good reviews and an ‘A’ rating from rotten tomatoes. it will probably do pretty well at the box office.
