Iggy Azalea on Matching the Beatles' Billboard Record: 'It Doesn't Mean Anything'

Iggy Azalea is all sparkle on the cover of Billboard magazine’s latest issue.

Here’s what the 23-year-old rapper had to share with the mag:

On Tupac influencing her and helping her determine her life: “When I first started rapping, I thought I’d move to the city [Sydney]. But when I got there I was like, ‘These people are still not my people.’”

On her tying the Beatles’ record: “It doesn’t mean anything. I’d rather be The Rolling Stones.”

On preferring to stay at old people’s hotel: “I want to stay in a place where 50-year-old rich people stay. It’s not that I care who’s around me – I just don’t want anyone around me. And if it’s an old rich lady, they’re usually pretty quiet and disgusted I’m even here, which I like.”

This girl should be grateful that she was mentioned in same paragraph with the Beatles. They’re legend and she’s a nobody that will disappear 5 years from now.

    She sounds ignorant and arrogant.

    Elle Says:

She sounds so full of herself. Is there any other 20something rich and famous out there who can think before they speak? Shailen Woodley? Jennifer Lawrence? They think talking unfiltered makes them look cool, but really it makes them look stupid.

She sounds stuck up, too bad this is her one hit wonder and 15 mnutes of “fame”

@Cate: You said it! People love her so much but seriously when she actually speaks she has this proper Australian girly voice and then she literally slows down/slurs her speech to sound like she’s from the boondocks…she can’t even use her own voice to perform. Why would you want to base a career off of that? She thinks she’s “hood” but she’s not even from “the hood”. She’s fake, and now that I just read this interview she’s totally arrogant, ignorant to the core and very rude. Was it Billboard or Iggy who referred to 50 year olds being “old”? 50 may be a turning point in your life and you are getting into your old age, but when I think of “rich old women”, it’s more like 70s. Gwen Stefani will be 50 in a little over 5 years…is she an old lady to people? Really? @Elle: I agree with you. I’m holding out hope that there will be ONE young person (30 and younger) in the industry who can conduct themselves in a professional manner. So far, I’ve only seen that from Chloe Moretz. You do an interview, you’re working, so act like it. By the way The Beatles music will be strong even after all of them are gone, but I doubt many will be saying “who dat who dat who do dat do dat” in 50 years time.

and btw, before anyone says it…I do my research and I know she lived in the “dirty south” in her late teens, but she’s only been in the US less than 10 years. If her speaking voice hasn’t changed, I doubt her “rapping voice” is authentic.

She is one of those ‘novelty’ acts. A one hit wonder with little to no talent. Trying to be ‘cool’ by dating a man of color.
