Usher Defends Justin Bieber After Leaked Racist Remarks

Usher took to Instagram to address Justin Bieber‘s racist comments in recently leaked videos!

“At my core, I am a person that supports growth and understands without judgement, that growth often comes as a result of pain and continues effort. As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn’t always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist,” the 35-year-old singer shared.

Usher added, “What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs. What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK of Usher’s remarks about Justin Bieber?

    @dunno: Oh stop, black people work hard too and black people created many things that white people have and use today. No one or group of people are perfect, blacks, whites, Hispanics, etc. There are black people who are richer and better off than white people in America and vice versa.

    @offtheproperty: I find it very interesting that you don’t want blacks to still be upset by slavery from so long ago and the lasting effects it has on America and black families in America, but you feel that they should be grateful to everything the white man/america gives them now. So only one half can “live in the past” ,so to speak, when it’s convient for you? Racisim comes in many forms and your comments are proof of that. The fact is this post is about JUSTIN BIEBER being a racist, which is exactly what he is.

    I started by saying I have such great respect for black people who do their best to take advantages of the enormous opportunities that are available to everyone who lives in this great country. And I felt compelled to add that this is the only country ever to fight a terrible Civil War TO END SLAVERY.
    You can spend your life feeling offended and resentful about the “racism” that still exists if you want. But that’s not going to get you anywhere.
    We have more than enough people of all kinds of resentful classes trying to blame this country for their problems and in the process tearing it apart.
    You’re going to wish you had appreciated it while you had it after it’s gone

    @offtheproperty: It should go for ANYONE living in the United States that they take advantage of the opportunities our country holds and appreciate that because other countries are a lot more strict, but you singled out black people as if they don’t appreciate living in the USA. You can appreciate the opportunities and still be p*ssed off when people are racist. One doesn’t have anything to do with the other. If it’s the land of the free there shouldn’t be discrimination based off skin color, but there is. Quite frankly, in this country, it’s hard to find black people who don’t have Native American, Indian, Latina, white, etc etc in their background. Times are changing and in the future the US will be made up of more mixed race people than people with only one thing but that doesn’t mean racism won’t prevail based off skin tone and not family history. The way you worded your comment singled out that black people should be grateful all the time even if they’re kicked down, and I can’t agree with that, and I understand where the backlash came from. But, it seems as though we’re at a agree to disagree stand still so I’m done here. As for Bieber, I agree with the commenter who said Usher didn’t want to look like a fool for ignoring JB’s comments but I don’t agree with Usher at all. Bieber needs to stop hiding behind his age.

    @offtheproperty:
    You seem in need of a history lesson, I will oblige you:
    The Civil War was fought for several reasons, the least of which was to free the slaves. Most of the Confederate army did not own slaves. The war was fought over states’ rights, economics and because the South wanted to succeed from the Union. The morality of slavery was a minor if non issue. After slavery ended Blacks had to face Jim Crow laws and other injustices and inequalities. Then there was the Civil Rights Movement; Black people weren’t “given” anything, they had to fight for the opportunities that this great nation provides.

    Usher can defend the little punk all he wants, Bieber knows what is racist and what is not, and yes the kid at the time was still a kid. He can hang with the Bros but he really needs to grow up, as he not a kid anymore.
