Angelina Jolie Calls for an End to Sexual Violence in Conflict Alongside Foreign Secretary William Hague

Angelina Jolie steps out to speak at the Global Summit To End Sexual Violence In Conflict on Tuesday (June 10) in London, England.

The 39-year-old actress and humanitarian is co-hosting the four day conference alongside frequent collaborator, Foreign Secretary William Hague.

“This will be the greatest concentration of effort, of discussion and decision ever seen in combating sexual violence in conflict,” Secretary Hague told the crowd during their opening (via AFP).

“Human Rights Watch’s own research shows that in Syria and Libya sexual violence against men has been part of the pattern of sexualised torture, particularly for men who are in detention or who are being held by the regime or militia,” Angelina added.

She is so amazing and spoke so very eloquently. I am not trying to take away this special moment from Angie and the true message but I just have to post this after listening to Angie’s speech.

And somewhere on another superficial planet, a 45 year old woman spoke about herself not of others. “I uses Aveeno and Living Proof to make my skin & hair feel great.”

Is this shameless woman for real? To have the nerve to show up with that creepy little man Hague, when we know their concern is fake and only aimed at erasing their sordid actions? Oh yeah we’ve seen her glorify and glamorize sexual violence in photo spreads. We’ve all heard her talk about having sex in a pool of blood to feel alive, and we know about the little man’s sex scandals, so why do this vile woman along with her partner in depravity think anyone can take them seriously?

What a sick sad world we live in when we have the scum of society lecturing us on sexual violence and morals. They might as well invite Mike Tyson and Chris Brown to discuss sexual violence, it will have the same effect. I feel disgusted.

    London Evening Standard
    -
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: I’ll fight to end war rape for as long as I’m alive, says Angelina Jolie as she arrives at London summit
    -
Actress Angelina Jolie has pledged to fight for victims of war ‘for as long as it takes’
    -
    10 June 2014
    -
As heads of Governments, NGOs, lawyers and doctors converge on the ExCel Centre today for an extraordinary summit, the Hollywood actress and campaigner Angelina Jolie arrives just in time to provide the fairy dust.
    -
Humanity can bear only so much policy – it deserves some beauty and charisma to sugar the pill. No one should doubt the star’s clout or commitment. When Jolie speaks, heads of state listen. She is a powerful voice on behalf of victims of war, particularly women. Her statement today is that the summit must answer the grievances of girls kidnapped in Nigeria, wives stoned in Pakistan and women raped in many war zones.
    -
“This sends a big message round the world, you see how women are treated as second class citizens and abused. This is to say: ‘No, you can’t and we will, in an organised fashion, come after you.’”
    -
For Jolie, 39, this is personal. “I will work on this for as long as I am alive. For as long as it takes.”
    -
It is thanks to a remarkable partnership between the actress and the British Foreign Secretary William Hague that the issue of rape in war zones has such prominence. For students of politics and leadership, the method is almost as interesting as the topic.
    -
Politicians alone – with their poor standing on social media and their narrow processes cannot “shift the dial” on social change. But social change cannot happen without them. Legislation matters, Governments must be involved as well as “the people”. The summit today could be a template for how to tackle the big global issues.
    -
Jolie is convinced that this coalition of players is the way to crack social injustice. “If this works, it can spill out into all the other crimes against humanity. I think this kind of summit is the only way to address these issues in a comprehensive fashion to get change and make a difference.”
    -
She is shrewd enough to understand the value of her power base. I ask her if she is likely to move into conventional politics and she says, politely: “If I felt I could effect change, I would certainly consider it.” But isn’t she in a more powerful position as a globally known actress and humanitarian? “It is certainly more unusual. It is interesting to be able to work with all sides in all ways and to work as a citizen of the world. I wouldn’t want that taken away.”
    -
I note that Hillary Clinton’s autobiography – seen as presaging a presidential bid – is published today. Is Jolie backing her, or contemplating a role in her administration? She answers deliberately: “I shall be following every candidate.”
    -
By working with whoever is in power, Jolie can makes things happen. She is a beauteous version of Henry Kissinger, a superb negotiator in designer clothing.
    -
We meet in a central London hotel, where Jolie has hardly had time to unpack before the summit. This is trivial hardship compared to last time we met, in March 2013, on an RAF flight to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Jolie joined William Hague to meet survivors of war rape and to flesh out a solution with the Governments of Congo and Rwanda. It was only after the trip that the media learned the actress had also undergone a preventative double mastectomy.
    -
I recall the unmade roads, and shuddering helicopters and asked what on earth made her do the trip at that time.
    -
Her preternaturally grey eyes fasten on me in surprise. “Honestly? There was no way I wasn’t going to be on that trip and certainly when you think of what those women suffer it was the least I could do.”
    -
She pauses: “And in a way, it helped to heal me because any pain or discomfort or concern I had became secondary in comparison. You would be ashamed if you did complain about it.”
    -
Later, Jolie made another bold decision. She kept quiet about her operation in the field, but later wrote about it when securely and privately back in LA. Once again, she refused to claim special privilege.
    -
“I do feel very human in my connection to others. I felt in that moment it was something I would have wanted other people to help me with.” She refers to her mother, who died of ovarian cancer at the age of 56: “To know I had this option and it could prevent me from dying young and leaving my children. It was something important to discuss and I have been so extremely grateful to women round the world who have in turn shared their stories.”

President Obama Fan Of HBO’s ‘The Normal Heart’

Ryan Murphy and Larry Kramer’s HBO movie The Normal Heart can count President Barack Obama among its supporters. I hear the president made a surprise call to Murphy today to tell him that he loved the film and found it incredibly moving. The two know each other — Murphy hosted a major fundraiser for Obama at his house in 2012 — but I hear the writer-director had no idea Obama had seen his HBO film about the onset of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City in thea early 1980s. I hear Obama asked how the movie came together. US-POLITICS-STATE OF THE UNION-OBAMAKramer had been trying to get his Tony-winning play adapted to the screen for three decades, with Murphy taking on what would become a passion project for him too in 2010. Murphy confirmed getting the call to Deadline, adding, “The whole movie is about Larry trying to get the attention of Washington and 30 years later, to get a call from the President is a full-circle moment.”

As usual, leave it to a POS tabloid addled psycho to not be able to resist the urge to derail the thread by bringing up the person who made their idol who she is today. And then you wonder why the whole world calls you loons. Instead of asking what a 45 year old woman could be doing, it’s best to ask what certain 39 year old woman hopes to achieve by pretending to act appalled by the deviant acts she herself has endorsed and glorified over the years. After all, this woman has boasted about her promiscuity ever since she became a celebrity, candidly discussed cutting up her lover in bed and feeling “alive” as they had sex covered in blood. Oh yea, the woman who is giving a speech at this summit, is the same woman who claimed to be sexual since kindergarten, wanting to “taste everyone in the world” before she died, and gleefully admitted that she was “the actress most likely to sleep with her female fans”; yup, the same actress of whom Doug Liman said “she likes to be sexually shocking”.

So maybe next time, the loons should not be looking at the speck in someone else’s eye, when the vile woman they worship -like a goddess on earth- has a plank in hers and has no moral authority whatsoever to step on that podium. And while you’re at it, maybe we can ask them, what have loons done to stop sexual violence, other than supporting a PR sham concocted by two very amoral people, really?

  • Media Wh@re MANiston

I would rather see a person who has fake concern than someone who has none what so ever. All this Tampon schizo is b!tch about what Angie does. If this moron is so disgusted about Angie being a fake, why not do something real about it. Oh, that’s right. What’s real to this moron is being on a Angie thread and rant nothing but BS. That’s how real the Gaylord is.

    Press release
UK pledges more support for victims of sexual violence in war
    -
Foreign Secretary William Hague announces new funding to help expand work to help victims of sexual violence at the Global Summit.
    -
Britain will provide new assistance to help victims of sexual violence in developing countries rebuild their lives through a new commitment from the Department for International Development.
    .
Announced by the Foreign Secretary at the opening of the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict, the new funding will help the UN and International Organisation of Migration to expand their work to help survivors.
    .
Commenting on the commitment, International Development Secretary Justine Greening said: “Rape and sexual violence destroy the lives of countless women and their families. We know that girls who suffer violence are more likely to do badly at school, die during child birth or contract HIV.
    .
“We can put an end to this. Our major new contribution will help survivors rebuild their lives and prevent future attacks.”
    .
The Department for International Development will invest £5 million to prevent sexual violence and help survivors. This includes:
    .
£4.25 million contribution to the UN Trust Fund on violence against women. This will expand their work and existing support services to help survivors of sexual violence.
£750,000 for a pilot with the International Organisation for Migration to speed up the referral of survivors of sexual violence in refugee camps across the developing world to people with the right skills and expertise to help them.
This new investment complements DFID’s existing programmes to address violence against women and girls in over 20 developing countries and substantial investment in research to understand how best to prevent violence against women and girls.

Angie love and dedication to a better world is spreading to all of us and the world love for Angie grows bigger and bigger.

Angie, Hague and all presents in this summit are the prove that when there is leadership, strong convictions and real actions, we can change the world together.

Angie is a beautiful woman with a even more beautiful soul.

Yes, i´m in loved ….. and the world is in loved too… Angie is Love… Love is everything we need…

but we need justice in the world too. We need to say “Enough” to all crimes against woman and children and this summit will be the first step.

The live streaming of the summit is:
    http://live.esvcsummit.com/

I´m seeing the summit and i can say it´s hard stuff but because it´s really a difficult and hard subject and a traumatic issue i think they will reach a consensus and implement resolutions to prevent, to support and to go rescue victims of this horror but like Angie i think they need to go after and arrested the perpetrators of this sexual crimes.

Angie will fight against the impunity and the lack of justice. Like a true leader she is the face of this fight without fear until the end. Angie is a Goddess …. kiss .. Big Kiss to Angie….

Angelina has gone to these countries that justice doesn’t exist. This busy remarkable woman is using her own free time to make a difference. Now, to these negative evil people who are disgusted to see her spoke about stopping sexual violence…are just pure ignorant and full of hatred and wickedness. Angelina does not only give millions of dollars but she personally go to these places make her presence known. She can choose to just lay on the beach, drinking cocktail, tanning, watching the ocean and have fun with friends. But no!!! She rather make use of her time to benefit others. Her precious time is spent with her loving family and make a difference in this world! Great job Angelina, you are truly an angel sent from heaven.
