Shailene Woodley: It's None of My Business What Other People Think of Me

Shailene Woodley is all about glamor on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine’s July 2014 issue, on newsstands June 17.

Here’s what the 22-year-old The Fault in Our Stars actress had to share with the mag:

On the pressures of Hollywood: “Somebody came to me and said, ‘I can’t wait to see what you do next.’ I took that as pressure”that I had to live up to somebody else’s expectations. There were a few months where I was like, ‘I don’t want to act anymore.’ And then I got over it and realized it’s none of my business what other people think of me.”

George Clooney, on Shailene: “Shailene can do whatever she wants. If she wants to be a movie star, she has it. If she wants to change the world, she will. Her talent and kindness go hand in hand. We’ll be talking about Shailene Woodley 40 years from now. I’ve never seen anyone so young that has so much together.”

On being cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2: “For a few hours it was literally like, ‘Oh, my God, was I awful? Why did they cut me? What are people going to think?’ I woke up the next morning and I was like, ‘O.K., it makes total sense.’ I’m a pretty spiritual person, so I can just sit back and trust that everything happens for a reason, even if my ego doesn’t like it.”

What a sweetheart. I agree with George. She is so talented but also so down to earth and funny.

  • Amy

    OMG…she’s so annoying…

  • Jamie

How many magazine articles does one actress need? The movie is out, enough already. This needs to be the last interview for a while, both for her own good and the sanity of the people.

  • elise

this photo looks extremely photoshoped , it doesn’t even look like her

  • elise

she looks like and old woman in that cover !!!

  • Kimiko

@Amy: No she is not. Her views may be weird or out of this world but she’s really smart. If you can’t take her then stop stop reading about her.

  • Kimiko

@Jamie: Then don’t go on reading articles about her. Come on man, focus on positivity!

  • Maia

It’s cool to know that Shailene Woodley disregards others’ opinions about her. Because if she does, she’d go berserk. People can be sooo mean sometimes. This girl is amazing. I hope she continues to be smart and opinionated about the things that she’s passionate about.

  • Kimiko

@elise: She does not. Are you blind?

  • Living in a box

Can she become international star? Divergent didn’t do very well at international market, and I doubt international market will be interested in The fault in our stars.I predict this year international break out role will be Nicola Peltz. On the good side, she on the right track.

  • Court

She’s so basic, a more talented Kristen Stewart but more annoying Jennifer Lawrence.. One who thinks she’s this huge amazing superstar when really she is just… well.. basic.. meh

  • emilia

She is very talented, can’t take that away from her but God I really don’t like her, so annoying!!!

  • lauren

    I love her!

  • Tyla

Her interviews are very annoying. She seems self-important to me.

  • colleen

    She’s so annoying

  • AJ

I think shes very cute, but she does say really ignorant things which can be very cringe worthy.

  • Arlene Dickinson

She has somehow ended up in the ‘most despised actress’ category already. People have the same disgust for her as they have for Gwyneth Paltrow, Cathering Heigl and Jessica Alba, also Emmy Rossum. I don;t think she will last too much longer in the limelight. People hate her guts.
