'Rising Star' Ratings Fail to Impress for ABC

Kesha hits the stage for the series premiere of Rising Star on Sunday evening (June 22) in Los Angeles.

The 27-year-old singer was joined for the program by fellow judges Ludacris and Brad Paisley, as well as host Josh Groban.

The series premiere unfortunately did not get great ratings for ABC and the show only pulled in about 5 million viewers. While it lost the time slot ratings war to America’s Got Talent, Rising Star did have a huge social presence and attracted 129,071 tweets, way more than any other show that evening, according to Variety.

FYI: Kesha is wearing a vintage dress.

    Ryan Seacrest Says:

Gee, I wonder why the ratings are bad….Maybe it’s because we’re SICK AND TIRED OF SINGING COMPETITIONS??? Do something original.

These ratings for a premier are really bad. The premier and finale ratings are always higher than the rest of the season so the numbers will just get worse. Why do they even think a show can be successful when the only people that can vote have to have a Smartphone and a Facebook or Twitter account. It would make more sense to let people Text their vote. Everybody doesn’t have a Smartphone. Most cellphones can text though. This was just a stupid idea and the show was soooo boring. This show might get cancelled before the season ends just like “I want to marry Harry”. And Sarah Darling is already a country music minor star so she shouldn’t have been allowed to compete on this show. This show lost all credibility for me when I saw her.

It was really bad, at 40 minutes in only 3 people had sang (badly) the minute I heard that chick sing Whitney Houston I was over it! People should be banned from singing Whitney on any show, they just butcher it and for some reason all the judges praise them!

The judges were fun to watch, but the show was a little boring and too stressful. You have to watch EVERY second of the show to know when to vote. I hate to say it, but people like mind-numbing television.

What a CROCK, the girl from the audience is well known on youtube, she has a record, and a label. She knew she was gonna be on the show, its all over twitter and her page. AMERICA IS NOT STUPID SO STOP PUTTING ON THESE SHOWS….. not reality if its scripted! Its also not UP TO AMERICA, you know its the judges.

Brad Paisley just doesn’t have it for a weekly TV program. Great guitarist but he doesn’t have the ‘IT’ that Blake and Keith Urban have. The show was horrible !!!!

@Ryan Seacrest: I absolutely loved American Idol this year. The three judges are great together and so much fun. Greatest panel of judges they have ever had. J Lo and Keith Urban and Harry are so talented and all three definitely easy on the eyes.
