Halle Berry Goes to Space on 'Entertainment Weekly' Cover!

Halle Berry is stunning while channeling her Extant character on the cover of Entertainment Weekly‘s latest issue, out on newsstands Friday (July 4)!

Here’s what the 47-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On her new show Extant: The minute I started to read it, I couldn’t put it down. I thought, ‘Wow. This is different.’ It’s innovative. Molly is a strong female character, which I really love to play. Molly is a complicated woman with a complicated family. Who is a woman who goes away to space for a year and leaves her husband, first of all? Who is a woman who comes back pregnant and tries to handle it somehow on her own? That just felt like a complication that I wanted to be a part of.”

On putting movies on hold for television: “I was being offered parts that I felt like I had done before. They weren’t exciting enough for me to leave my family for four months. I realized some of the best writing especially for women, was on television.”

Like she was being offered a lot of part. Get real Halle. She’s probably making more doing TV. No shame in that game. No one is paying her millions to be in films. She is pretty and not just for her age. She also seems to have calmed down on the crazy.

  • Shelbethegreat

T.V. is were the money is at, just ask Charlie Sheen that boy got 1.25 million an episode for two and a half men per episode, unbelievable. And Ashton Kushner was paid $700,000 an episode, Jesus. Do a couple of episodes and Halle can make the same as doing a movie or more and still go home to the husband and kids. Sweet deal if you can get it. Can anyone say bank ola. Sure she can make millions doing a movie but even more with television, yowsa!

  • money

@ Shelbe and all the numerous names you post under
Get Real and wise up because you are way too gullible She will never be earning the kind of money Sheen/Kutcher make per episode. She is not in that league. Only doing it cause she cant get the big movie roles.

  • Not so fast

That kind of money only comes when you have a hit tv show. Two and a half Men had been on tv for years and was really funny at one point. Sheen had clout because the show was based around him. Kutcher was able to negotiate based on Sheen’s succes but the show was done when he left. So kutcher was able to pocket a few checks which is good for him.

Unless Halle show has some grip to it and can hold audience attention she will not be banking like Sheen did. Based on the previews I don’t see the being a hit and definitely not a story line that can go on for at least 2-3 years.

  • the other Liz

According to EOnline/article: Halle’s getting “north” of $100,000 plus a co-executive producer credit, request for a closed set (her kids and Malia Obama ) and a body guard

  • the other Liz correction

‘north’ of $100, 000 per episode if she shoots all 13 summer episodes (std length of the summer season) she will make $1.3M plus her co -ex prod credit and other perks

  • Raphael

    Halle you is the best!

  • shelbethegreat

@Not so fast: Halle doing heck of a lot better than any of you lot. You obviously are biased and didn’t take the time to look at the trailers. I was skeptical until I saw the story line and the great acting by the actors in this show. It’s interesting and different, television is were it is at. Movies have become boring, predictable. I would rather look at television than go to a movie any day, such variety and great scripts. Ray Morano was paid 1.5 million an episode for Everyone Loves Raymond and you think Halle will get peanuts, plus being an executive producer, get real, and get a life. Girl going to be rolling in the dough. She got the Oscar, been a movie star for years, nothing left to do but bank as much money while she can and play with the baby.

  • Eli-7

The other Liz is absolutely correct , the EW article says it in plain English in black & white print Ms. Berry is getting $100,000 or so per episode plus credit for her being co-Executive producer.

She is also correct that the Summer TV season is general 13 shows meaning that Halle will ONLY make $1.3 million or so plus her ex producer credit it.

A regular TV season is 22-23 episodes. It still has to do well to be picked up for the Fall or mid-season line-up. If the show does well over time, then Halle’s $100,000 per episode could possibly go up.

  • Eli-7 part 2

Here’s a list from Huff Po listing 91 Oscar winners on TV

Halle’s Co-Executive Producer Salary is all contingent on how much money she has invested in the project, her contract, and how much revenue the summer series will bring in for CBS.

Was a Film/TV major in college.

  • Bill

Sorry but she is not attractive, she close to being a monkey, big ears, long chin, big teeth, ugly eyes.

  • Shelbethegreat

@Bill: Lets see a picture of you and see if you look any better. Not.

  • glee

@ shelbethegreat. This article is about Halle Berry, not Bill but I’m sure that he will gladly give a picture of himself when there is an article on this site purely about him. You insult all the time – have you shown your picture?

  • just saying

Isn’t Halle getting pay 10 millions dollar a movie? That a big pay cut, a 1.3 million a real big pay cut.

  • nope

@just saying: Last time Halle made $10M for a movie was in 2007 with Perfect Stranger.

With the exception of her few weeks filming her role in New Year’s Eve Movie43 and possibly XMen, she probably makes anywhere from S3M-$5M per picture according to an old THR or Variety article a few years ago. She may make even less.

The only exception might be for her multiple roles in CLoud Atlas. F& A lost lots of $$$ both times who knows what she got for the role and her producer’s credit. TWLITF probably $1-3+ M ($16M budget) , The Call only had a $13M budget and Dark Tide $25M.

  • nope part 2

@nope: Most of her income probably is from her investments +

Her deals with Revlon ( 5-yr contract was renewed in 2012 w/her 2007-2012 contract being $10M per year for 5 years or $50M total)

    Plus her shoe deal

Plus her Coty deal which she got a lump sum ($3-$5M originally ) plus 1-3% total sales and that was just for her original three frangrances in one of their lower tier groups. Who knows what she gets now since she has several scents w/them.

    Other appearances and endorsements ????

  • Fresh off the streets

Ugly, boring, liar, mental case, AKA Scary Berry! Wig is to d a m n thick! Photoshopped to death. If she had so many fans, why didn’t they go see her movies? Why did she have 10 minutes in the XMAN movie? She’s not the first to be pregnant in a film. Overrated and her career is proof she is a has-been whose only claims to fame were abused by Father (a lie), in therapy since childhood because of problems with being bi-racial, and actually believing that she’s so “beautiful’ to play roles, but that’s something they tell a lot of actresses when they try to soften the rejection. She is a horrible actress. I’ve seen better acting on YouTube by everyday people not to mention better looking women. She looks all dried out. Ooo, that’s a great name for a song! Soft rock circa 1984.

  • wrong again

@Fresh off the streets: She never claimed she was abused by her father. She claims she witnessed her sister and mother being physically abused. Whether either happened, who knows. Her half sister Renee denies her father was abusive and a drunk., who knows? Something happened that’s for sure./

  • not true. wrong again

@nope: 10 million a year from Revlon, Jesus! Halle is just rolling in the dough. Still I have seen the previews of this show and it does sound interesting, good acting. For everyone else, forget what the haters are saying give it a try, July 10.

  • nope2

@Shelbethegreat: yes, $10M /year/ more or less from Revlon for a few ads/commercials, public appearances isn’t too bad at all. The show should be interesting July 9th.

  • just saying

@nope part 2 show us where we can find where Revlon pay her 10 million a year please

  • nope2

@just saying: google it…was posted on her imdb page. discussion several may be archived. Do know for a fact in 2007 she signed a 5-year $10M contract = $50M and was renewed in 2012–because I posted it there more than once and also on JJ. Will post when I am able to find the link. Trust me on this.

  • nope2

may be off on the years —do know she makes at leaqst 10M /year w/them.

  • Shelbethegreat

Halle ain’t gonna never starve making 10 million doing a few commercials a year. Dang, who needs acting with that kind of cash. And she got per perfumes and that shoe company ads, girl is doing alright. Maceo is definitely eating out of a silver spoon since his father Olivier got his own money coming in from L’Homme every year and is acting as well. Watch Extant, it will be very good and interesting.
