Robert Downey Jr.'s Son Indio Arrested for Cocaine Possession

Robert Downey Jr.‘s son Indio (pictured here back in May 2008) was arrested this weekend for cocaine possession, according to TMZ.

The 20-year-old was driving around in the passenger seat with one of his friends on Sunday (June 29) at around 2pm PT in West Hollywood, Calif. when a cop pulled up alongside the car and noticed the passenger smoking out of a pipe.

The car was pulled over and an L.A. County Sheriff’s deputy did a search, which resulted in allegedly finding cocaine in Indio‘s possesion. He was arrested, taken to jail, and then posted his $10,000 bail just after midnight.

Robert famously struggled with drug addiction and spent time in prison before cleaning up his act and rebooting his career.

    Ah boy like father like son. I knew it would catch up with him some how. Hope this is not an addiction only a phase.

  • hmmm

    He was already in a rehab or some outpatient thing; but of course the press either missed that or chose to not report on it.

    I think Robert is still a bit twitchy. Which is probably why his wife never leaves him alone for long periods.. He has said this so not gossip.

    I guess he has his father’s demons..

    hope he can get clean.. tough road ahead.

    RDJ is such a great person. I hope his son can get through this and come out on top. (No prison pun intended there)

    My last pay check was $9500 working 12 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can’t believe how easy it was once I tried it out. This is what I do… http://qr.net/CH5Z

    I like Robert and I’m pretty sure after what he’s been through he has told his son not to take his path. However, the kid is a HW kid who is surrounded by other rich kids he can get drugs and alcohol like buying candy and soda. A parent can only do so much to protect their children especially when they are young adults and get caught in peer pressure to be considered a cool dude. I hope he can beat this and make something of his young life. We almost lost his dad to those awful demons and I’m sure Rodney doesn’t want to lose his child to drugs. Robert may have to cut down the allowance to a bare minimum and let his son fend for himself. I know Robert didn’t raise him so he probably spoils the boy. Tough love need to come in by the way of money. No extra big money, no major drugs.

    Come on! He should know better. After his father’s history you’d figure he would have gotten the message. So sad. Kid, learn from other’s mistakes and don’t be so stupid.

    @Rose: Drug addiction in partly genetic.

    @well:

    Actually, I think you’re on to something but I dont buy this idea that parents are helpless to environment. Seriously, there are SOME communities that are FASTER than others. I have family in New Orleans. An the culture there is going from one festival to the next throughout the year. So, there’s a lot of laissez les bon temps roulez…let the good times roll that you don’t get in quiet Midwest suburbs. Kids can find drugs anywhere. But Hollywood and LA lifestyle is amped up making a clean sober kid coming out of that environment being the exception not the rule. A movie star does NOT have to raise his or her kid in LA. And he and the kids mother could have arranged to raise him very well outside of that environment. It might have helped. It’s the kid’s failure and fault at the end of the day, but the parenting to mold the decision making skills and to limit the crazy culture certainly plays a part I believe. I don’t buy this genetic predetermined cr/p. That’s an excuse to party or fail…

    I played competitive tennis as a kid. I was on the tennis court before school and after school until practically bed time every day. Tournaments on the weekends. A purpose for my practice and I had goals. I wanted to win. Be the best even if I wasn’t. I did not ride my bike around the neighborhood or hang out with friends looking for thrills and ways to erase boredom. Sports and hobbies are great for kids like that (charity like animal rescue as well…keeps kids preoccupied away from drugs)…in my opinion. Camp is good too, but chaperones. Remember the movie meatballs???
