Pippa Middleton Has 'Felt Publicly Bullied' Living Life in the Public Eye

Pippa Middleton and a gal pal head out to grab some lunch on Tuesday (July 1) in London, England.

The 30-year-old younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge recently gave her first ever television interview on the Today show!

“There is a lot of pressure I get in London, just my day-to-day routine. Occasionally, I might get followed by paparazzi. It’s been a bit difficult. It’s getting used to not being entirely private and sort of feeling wherever I go maybe someone will spot me…For good or bad, it means that I don’t entirely relax, particularly when I’m in cities,” Pippa said.

“It’s hard sometimes, but I have felt publicly bullied a little bit just by, you know, when I read things that clearly aren’t true or that, whichever way someone looks at it, it’s a negative side. It is quite difficult,” Pippa added. “Because eventually I’m just paving my way and trying to live a life like any 30-year-old.”

I know I may be a party of one, but I KIND OF feel bad for her. Her SISTER married a Prince, she did not. The fact is, if you put yourselves in her shoes for a moment: your sibling married royalty or even a major A-list celebrity and immediately everything you do is under a microscope and you didn’t ask for it nor sign up for it. I would be annoyed if cameras started following me to grab my morning Starbucks or going grocery shopping in my sweats with no make-up or hanging out with friends simply because my sister married someone in the public eye. You can use the whole “well it comes with the territory” with the celebs who enter the public eye due to their career choice, but you can’t really use it on their families who didn’t. The only reason I only kind of feel bad for Pippa is because, since Kate got married she’s gotten press she didn’t ask for, but now she’s using that unintentional fame to work in the spotlight for the Today Show …so now she is kind of asking for it lol. But, I do understand what she means by not feeling comfortable being followed. I wouldn’t either.

Yet you keep doing interviews and writing sh*tty books to make money off your “fame.” Girl bye!!!

@Jen: No, I get what you mean. She was getting followed and reported on a lot despite not actively courting the attention. The last year or so it seems like she decided just to take advantage of it which I can’t really fault her for but now she can’t really complain about the attention as she is actively putting herself out there as a public figure.

I agree that she never asked for it…and as for the book, what are you going to do if you’re made a great offer and it fits with your aspirations? honestly she’s right about being bullied, but i think ppl were protesting against journos and bloggers always featuring her, rather than her herself.

@Cate: @Old News: I’m so glad you both knew where I was coming from. It’s a tricky situation when someone who isn’t a celebrity gets pulled into it and then takes advantage of it. I would probably take advantage of the opportunities she was given as well, but yeah, initially I always felt it kind of wrong to follow her everyday activities when she’s not the one who married Prince William nor had she set out for a career in the public eye.

Yeah, she conveniently left out the part where she milks the fame for everything it’s worth. Invitations to parties and events, VIP boxes and VIP treatment, and access to well-connected people (THIS part is important for her, because she always was a notorious social climber). Although I like Kate, the nickname for the two of them was Wisteria Sisters, because of all the social climbing. Runs in the family…Their granny taught their mother to be that way. No sympathy for her whining here. She was known as a big snob in college, she thought she was better than anyone who wasn’t wealthy or well-connected.

@….. You went to college with her???—otherwise, how would you know what she was like.

Whatever, she loves it! She’s constantly going out and CALLING the paps. What a phony.
