Taylor Swift's Role in 'The Giver' Film is Important, Says Author

Taylor Swift looks as flawless as always as she heads out of her apartment and heads to the gym on Wednesday afternoon (July 9) in New York City.

The night before, the 24-year-old singer was spotted arriving home late after spending the night out.

Author Lois Lowry recently opened up about Taylor‘s role in the upcoming film adaptation of her novel “The Giver.”

“The role in the movie is still a small role, but it’s a crucial and very important one,” Lois told MTV News. “I have a copy of the movie in its final stages here on my computer, and I had my two grandsons here for the Fourth of July weekend – they’re 13 and 15 ,and I showed it to them—probably against the rules—anyways, I asked them was there anything special that they liked best and one of them selected the scene with Taylor Swift.”

She continued, “I don’t think because of Taylor Swift particularly, but because the elements of that particular scene he found very gripping. So her role in the movie is much the same in the book, except in the book she’s only remembered… And in the movie you can see the memory of her. She appears in, I don’t know the technical term would be, but you can see her. And it’s very compelling.”

As for whether we’ll see Tay perform on screen, Lois said, “I don’t know if I’m allowed to tell you that! I will tell you, she does not sing. I don’t know if it would be an appropriate thing for her to sing. It would’ve turned the movie into a musical, which it isn’t! So no, no singing.”

FYI: Taylor is wearing a Reformation romper for the night out.

After her comment on how music shouldn’t be free, I don’t like her anymore.

  • …..

I think she’s gonna play the piano in this movie, no singing though.@Bea: I’m not a Taylor fan but really? then how do you expect her to pay her bills, just touring? see if you were a musician you’d understand but Ur most likely not, this is how we provide a living for ourselves. There’s artists that are more reasonable than others and there are artists that rip off people during their tours, so artists could rip off either how much each of their songs are worth or their concert ticket prices. I think Taylor has been reasonable with her business management for the most part.

  • Asdf

She’s a horrid actor. It’s even worse than her singing.

  • perdida

Taylor is a brand. She has been earning more than $50 Million a year for at least the past 7 years. She not only sells her music and tours, she also sells stuff like T-shirts and other stuff, and markets herself through her fan sites. She also gets a lot of money from endorsing different products like Cover Girl and Coca Cola. If anyone in the world could afford to give their fans a break it’s her.

  • Honour

Her songs are not for me. Is she playing the giver’s daughter in this film? Flashbacks only, so I guess so!

  • ish

@perdida: sorry but when somebody that used to be incredibly famous back in the 1960′s, 70s, or 80s realize that they don’t have the same money flow as they used to and will have to decrease their ticket prices on their concerts as they get to their 40′s, 50′s when young adults aren’t really their main demographic anymore, they will rely on their value of creativity, each song does deserve to have a monetary value of a dollar, how is that not reasonable. i believe taylor is a more honest artist considering her songwriting abilities so she truly deserves to put a value on her songs when there’s pop stars that heavily autotune their voice and didn’t write any of their songs or composed the music yet they are selling their songs for the same price as taylors. blame the artists that have faked it and ripped people off, don’t blame somebody that has mastered their craft and capitalized it in a fair manner.

Tay is really not aging that well. She used to be pretty when she was younger, but idk… her face seems different this last year or so.

  • Terr

Taylor looks wasted in those photos of her in that short blue outfit. People are saying she was out partying and got drunk that night. Good for her, lol

  • dee

@Terr: according to page six I think that night she had dinner in the Hamptons with Steve Spielberg and his wife till 10:30? Maybe a bottle of wine or 2 at dinner. Plus it was hot and humid in the city that night.
