Kate Bosworth's Braided Hairdo is a Style We Want to Steal!

Kate Bosworth looks so chic while attending the launch of her new Style Thief app on Wednesday (July 16) at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, Calif.

The 31-year-old actress and fashionista, who sported a braided hairdo, was joined at the event by her husband Michael Polish and business partner Sam Russ.

The app allows users to “snap a photo, do an image search for a fashion item and buy it through a couple of clicks,” according to WWD. The app will allow people to tap into the popularity of street style.

“Everyone has fashion envy,” Kate told the outlet. “Everyone can relate to that feeling of looking at an editorial, for example — or a friend, or the runway, for that matter — wanting to steal something exactly as you’re seeing it, or something similar.”

FYI: Kate is wearing a RED Valentino dress, Bionda Castana shoes, Fabi Malavazi rings available at Roseark, and Anito Ko earrings and ear cuff.

    LOL what a bunch of sticks…seriously I bet you can hear the sound of bones rattling when they have sex…that being said she has some pretty cool eyes.

  • Gemma

    Brilliant! I love the idea. This app should be wildly successful.

  • gross

    EAT SOMETHING DAMN IT!

  • pretty kitty

    so basically Kate stole
    Shazaam from London
    the Hunt from Apple
    and had the brilliant idea to call it Wait for it::::
    Style Theif…!!! ha ha ha
    should have just called it
    Ripped it off and repackaged it!!

  • Fab

    Checked ST out with some friends and it was so much fun. We’re in.

  • Red Valentino Dress

    Is that a RED Valentino dress or is Style Thief a piece of cr@p… just like JewelMint????!!!

    “Earlier this month, she spotted a picture of a red dress, took a screen shot and scanned it on Style Thief. The app discovered that it was designed by Valentino and sold on Net-a-porter.com. Bosworth bought it with plans to wear it to Style Thief’s launch party on Wednesday at the Chateau Marmont, in West Hollywood.”

  • Red Valentino Dress

    @Gemma: Brilliant?? !! Really?? Taking pictures of strangers so that you can wear what they are wearing is NOT brilliant and it certainly isn’t fashion forward. This idea is creepy and will probably make people anxious. If you want to emulate other people, go ahead. Fashion should be much more fun than that. @Fab: Then you are the first. Check out the reviews online… it doesn’t seem to work for others: “Naturally, we tried Style Thief for ourselves, putting the app to the test of identifying a pair of J.Crew shorts. Sadly, it couldn’t find our exact pair based off the picture, although it turned up when we searched for the exact product name.” The whole idea of the app is to find out what someone is wearing. If it only works when you type in the exact product name, why not just Google it instead (then Kate won’t get a percentage of the sale!!).

  • Really

    Creepy taking pixs of strangers just 2 find out where 2 get there outfit from, now i know what Kate does in here spare time with that phone of hers
    WATCH OUT PEEPS when walking down the street and some random has a phone pointing in your direction lol .

  • Suze

    This sounds familiar. Didn’t another company already do this?

  • Woods

    @Suze: Isn’t it funny that Kate chose to be the face of a company that has stolen the “business idea” of stealing other people’s “fashion ideas”??!

  • Smoke

    @Bobby: Like rubbing two sticks together. I wonder if they set off the smoke alarm!

  • OlderManEndsBeauty

    she looks tired and so ill these past few years …what the hell has her years with polish done to her other than age her and badly damage her natural beauty

  • dr.Selenium

    girl needs a good doctor and Dietian/nutritionist fast.1 years old.she looks so frail for someone only 31…she gotta get her a good multivitamin a new doctor lots of rest and a ton of good food …otherwise it’s goodbye sweetcheeks.

  • dr.Selenium

    even though she is incredibly beautiful , i wonder , is she sick? because i think she probably has some undiagnosed illness if her drastic change of appearance is anything to go by.
    btw good food and exercise can make us look and feel ten years younger…. off to the gym kate

  • Get a tailor!

    For someone who is supposed to be the epitome of style, she sure has an awful tailor. Or maybe she purposely buys her clothing too big so that it will make her look even smaller.

  • Jan

    @Older…..
    I suspect she’s on the “fashionista diet” of coffee, cigarettes, bl*w and air.
    Anything for fashion in her world.

  • Grim Fairy Tale

    @Jan #16 , oh how stupiid simplistic and small minded of you.
    i however think she is much more complicated than your regurgitated laineyy comments make her out to be.

  • Grim Fairy Tale

    i am sure he and she are very nice people and all but those two together might not be so good for each other.
    maybe time apart would do them both some good because spending so much time together is not doing either of them any favors .

  • Real Realty

    It looks like Kate has sold her LA home for $2.37 million (Bosworth put the house on the market in April, asking $2.49 million). She bought the property for $2.1 mill ten years ago.
    Now she and Mike can concentrate on their new lives together as they approach their first wedding anniversary (August 31).

    Maybe they are looking for property with room for a nursery???

  • Style thief Review

    “Easy to upload pictures but terrible search results that don’t help me find what I’m looking for. I uploaded a floral dress and got a result of grey dresses. Deleted this app immediately after.”

  • Baby Boz

    @Real Realty: “Maybe they are looking for property with room for a nursery???” Sadly, I can’t imagine her being able to carry a child to term or even having a regular cycle. There are children all over the world that need a good home. They could always adopt.

  • Kate on Top

    Congratulations on the beautiful Harper’s Bazaar cover for August! Another breathtaking cover for the stunning actress! What a great time to be Kate Bosworth!

  • Fashionista

    Great app! It works perfectly for me.

    Great app!

    Love this app.

  • Ancient

    @Fashionista: Kate looks OLD (look at those crow’s feet) in that pic. “Great App”…. there’s an in depth review, did you write that yourself, Fashionista/Kate on Top?

  • Ancient/Another “Great” Review

    @Ancient: …here’s another site that is NOT impressed ( http://www.mtv.com/news/1870645/style-thief-app-testing/ ):
    “Yesterday, it was announced that Kate Bosworth was launching Style Thief, a new app that could help users recognize and purchase new clothes. The app is part of a growing trend to merge tech and fashion—if you see a shirt you like, you could (ideally) take a picture of it and buy it within minutes. I figured the best way to know whether the future actually is now was to try the app for myself—here are my findings. I figured I’d begin my experiment with a picture of a dress I knew was currently being sold at Topshop. I would know automatically whether or not the app was right, since I had the actual info sitting in front of me. Turns out, I didn’t even need to dive into the deets of the dress because, um, my result was a $689 Burberry dress. Oh, also, it was white.Next I figured I’d try an image from an editorial. According to WWD, one of the app’s main purposes is to identify pieces featured in magazines—even if it’s not an identical match, the app claims, it would provide alternatives. I settled on a monochromatic croptop from Narciso Rodriguez and was matched with a $77 white tank top. Maybe the app is just looking out for me—an $850 shirt isn’t really in my budget.Since I was having no luck with women’s clothing, I figured I’d try to find a men’s shirt. Spoiler alert: I didn’t find an exact match. I did, however, find a similar button-up—it was even the right color!Style Thief is limited in its categories—there are no shoes or accessories, for example—so I figured since I was on a fairly accurate matching streak, I’d give a dress another shot. With my eyes closed and fingers crossed, I submitted a striped dress from Topshop. Guess what? My streak continued—Style Thief found the right dress!

    The app definitely has some kinks to work out (add shoes, please!), but the fact that it’s even accurate sometimes, or can provide similar items, is pretty impressive. I mean, 10 years ago iPhones didn’t exist, so I’m willing to allow a brand new app to make a few mistakes. Updates will undoubtedly come soon and, in no time, I’m sure I’ll be style twinsies with Rihanna.”

  • And Another “Great” Review

    @Ancient/Another “Great” Review: http://www.thefashionspot.com/buzz-news/latest-news/430051-kate-bosworths-new-clothing-identification-app-style-thief/

    “Naturally, we tried Style Thief for ourselves, putting the app to the test of identifying a pair of J.Crew shorts. Sadly, it couldn’t find our exact pair based off the picture, although it turned up when we searched for the exact product name.”

    So… as long as you have the “exact product name” you can use the Style Thief Ap OR you could just Google it and save yourself the aggravation!

  • Accurate Sometime??!!

    @Ancient/Another “Great” Review: Just like Kate, the app sometimes works.

  • Randall

    @Accurate Sometime??!!: Funny!

    Add this to the list of “great reviews”: ( http://jezebel.com/kate-bosworth-launches-new-app-trying-to-be-the-shazam-1605276282 )
    Kate Bosworth, a woman known for appearing on magazine covers because she was in that one surfing movie that came out twelve years ago, has an app now. The concept sounds pretty good.

    As reported by WWD, Style Thief…

    …lets people snap a photo, do an image search for a fashion item and buy it through a couple of clicks.

    Just like Shazam — the app that can identify a song playing on speakers near you and direct you to the iTunes link — Style Thief allows the user to “Snap & Steal” clothing items.

    So now, theoretically, you could snap a picture of someone’s sneakers on the subway, or your coworker’s dress, or a skirt in a magazine layout, and find the item instantly. Cool idea.

    Here’s the rub:

    I took a picture of some $10 sunglasses in my apartment and Style Thief directed me toward a $145 Vince striped t-shirt.

    I took a picture of a red kimono and Style Thief offered me a $115 Parker Kelsey laser-cut leather top.

    I took a picture of my dog and Style Thief’s first result was a $30 “Brooklyn Zombies” black t-shirt.

    The app is brand-new; I’m sure the team will work out the bugs.”

  • Tulip

    She got great reviews for “Homefront.”

  • mocktress

    @Accurate Sometime??!!:
    LOL. She hasn’t even worked much as a mocktress this year. And for a fashion icon hasn’t doesn’t done much in fashion appearances either.

    @Tulip: what do her reviews for Homefront have to do with the fashion app that she’s promoting?

  • pretty kitty

    @Tulip:
    she was a meth addict,, probably went method acting for that one

  • whycantipost

    Taking pics of strangers also fits her well; she is non-famous, a D-lister and calls people to take pics of her.. how fitting!

  • Bosworth on TOP!

    Congratulations Kate for ANOTHER dazzling cover, this time it’s September’s InStyle. She looks absolutely fierce on the cover and the inside pics are drop dead gorgeous.I can’t imagine a better person to grace the magazine.

    There’s a big anniversary for Kate and her devoted husband, Mike! Happy Anniversary. After almost a year, the unstoppable couple have become a wildly successful powerhouse in the movie and business industry. It sounds like she and her ardent husband will soon be working on another collaboration: parenthood!
    “I know that it’s going to be tough, but Michael and I will find humor in it,” the cover girl said of motherhood. “We’re already convinced that our kids will do things that are hilarious.”

    I wish them many more years of wedded joy and look forward to the new addition to the Polish family.

  • BOT

    @Bosworth on TOP!: “After almost a year, the unstoppable couple have become a wildly successful powerhouse in the movie and business industry.”
    Unstoppable? What do you even mean by that? And ‘powerhouse’ must mean something different to you as well? Powerhouse=D list?
    Ardent?
    Fierce? She looks like she’s wearing a quilt pattern, hardly fierce.
    Please, step away from the thesaurus, and the coffee and Red Bull.

  • @Bot

    @BOT: Whenever someone sounds even mildly intelligent on this site, posters are nasty to them, example: Ladybug and Fashionista.

    Can’t people have an opinion without personal attacks (“Please, step away from the thesaurus, and the coffee and Red Bull.”)??!!

  • The Color of Money

    @Bosworth on TOP!: She’ll probably dump this Style Thief App as soon as her contract runs out just like she did with JewelMint. It’s all about the GREEN!!
