While at the panel, Charlie was asked about dropping out of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

“I was just really, really invested and wanted to work with [director] Sam [Taylor-Johnson] and play that character,” Charlie said. “I’m really, really curious.”

He added that he “couldn’t do it because of the schedule,” according to Us Weekly.

    Pam Says:

Haha! He’s lying… the filming of 50 shades wrapped long before he shot the first scenes of SoA. Can’t blame him though, that overhyped stinker will bomb so hard.

  3. 3
    Bianca Says:

Why does the press continue to ask him about the FSOG- it’s time to let it go. Their is nothing to report anymore..

    Lu Says:

What do people see in this guy, he’s so average and the hair and beard are actually pretty gross. I do like SOA though.

  5. 5
    Bianca Says:

@Pam: I don’t think it had anything to do with SOA, wasn’t he beginning or prepping to begin shooting Cromson Peak at that time? Maybe it’s was filing at the same time as FSOG.

    .. Says:

    He’s just yummy.

    enough Says:

@Pam: he had another film, Crimson Peak. Besides, this is ancient history, especially since 50 shades wrapped months ago.

    JO Says:

Seriously I´m tired of this man,was because of him we stuck with Dakota

    elphie Says:

Sorry Charlie I don’t see you as Christian just be Jax and I’m happy Jamie Dorman is Christian Grey.

  11. 11
    UmNo Says:

He dropped out because Polls showed that he wasn’t sexy enough to pull of “Christian Grey.” He’s more of a construction type worker kind of guy…not a hot azz suit and tie billionaire freaky deaky sexaholic. Truth.

  12. 12
    Elisa Says:

@UmNo: i really want to live in your country if construction guys look like him jajaja anyways the whole 50shades thing is so old now he is hot good actor and he could have play a great christian grey but now is jamie who is hot too so i never really understood the problem please let it go already! !

  13. 13
    um...NO Says:

@UmNo: He looks great in a suit, just because his character on SOA is rough around the edges. It’s called ACTING. Truth.

  14. 14
    no name Says:

Watching his CK ad, makes me think yeah he probably could’ve pulled off CG…he looked hot in that ad…but I do like Jamie as CG, not so much Dakota as Ana

    Molly H. Says:

yeah right! We all know he didn’t want to tied to that crap fest anymore haha hahaha haha

  16. 16
    Joelle Says:

He dropped out a long time ago and the film has wrapped. People should just stop asking him about it. If the film is a success they’re going to be all over him again asking if he regrets dropping out.

    truthbetold Says:

He can’t even remember his own lies anymore. First somebody in his family died and he had to go to London or something because of it and now it’s because of his “schedule”. Just admit it you tried taking control of your character, as he said himself he had his own take on Christian, and Sam didn’t like it so you got booted.

  18. 18
    Santanico Says:

@truthbetold: The problem was with the script, apparently he had his own take on and it looked like STJ was up for another way. As soon as he dropped out Universal hired two famos writer to polish the script up if you remember? And the production got postponed for a month, that would be overlapped with Charlie’s more important part in Crimson Peak. So it was indeed a schedule problem, because if the script was fine like the directer insisted they wouldn’t need to rewrite it.
@JO: As for Dakota, apparently she got the job because her connection with Sam Taylor-Johnson, they only made Charlie say the things to make Dakota look credible because she was nobody.

    allison Says:

I have never seen an actor talk so much about a movie he was not in. Stop talking about this movie Charlie. It’s not Citizen Kane. A year from now no one will care. Talk about SOA or what you want to do after SOA.

    allison Says:

@Joelle: People keep asking him because he keeps answering the questions. Each time adding or changing the story. All he needs to say is that another actor has the role and he wishes the movie well. Then go on to what he wants to do as a actor and screenwriter
