'Guardians of the Galaxy' Director Originally Said 'No Way' to Chris Pratt!

Chris Pratt poses with Lara Spencer and his Bubba Gump gift basket after making an appearance on Good Morning America on Wednesday (July 30) in New York City.

The 35-year-old actor visited SiriusXM studios later in the day to chat about his film Guardians of the Galaxy, in theaters on August 1.

“Marvel did not show me a script,” Chris recently told ABC about when he first signed on. “They’re like, ‘Hi, we’re Marvel.’ And I was like, ‘Hi, I’ll do anything.’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah, you will.’”

“Somebody first suggested him to me, I thought, you got to be kidding me. This chubby guy from ‘Parks and Rec’?” Guardians director James Gunn said in the interview. “There’s no way I’m going to make that guy the star of my movie. I knew within 20 seconds of his audition this is absolutely the guy. And the truth is, Chris Pratt is the biggest movie star in the world. It’s just people don’t know it yet.”

FYI: Chris is wearing Hudson Jeans and Timberland Wodehouse boots.

thank god marvel made the right choice and had faith in him. chris is such a likeable guy and a great actor and he always had the potential to buff up with his naturally big frame. good for him, he deserves all of his success.
