LA Galaxy Soccer Star Landon Donovan Announces He's Retiring This Season

Los Angeles Galaxy soccer star Landon Donovan has announced his retirement from the professional sport.

The 32-year-old pro athlete will retire at the end of this season, his 14th as a pro, he announced on his Facebook page.

“I don’t write these words lightly and this day carries mixed emotions for me. I am sad to leave a profession that has brought me so much joy. I will miss all of the teammates who helped me create so many incredible memories on-the-field, and who I have shared many wonderful experiences with off-the-field,” Landon wrote.

After careful deliberation and after many conversations with those closest to me, I have decided that this will be my last season as a professional soccer player.
I don’t write these words lightly and this day carries mixed emotions for me. I am sad to leave a profession that has brought me so much joy. I will miss all of the teammates who helped me create so many incredible memories on-the-field, and who I have shared many wonderful experiences with off-the-field. I will miss my coaches, at both the club and national team levels, who have helped me develop throughout my career and helped make me the player I am today. However, after spending half my life as a professional soccer player, I also am excited to begin a new chapter and pursue other opportunities that will challenge me and allow me to grow as a person.
There are so many people I want to thank who have inspired me, guided me and helped me on this incredible journey. I simply could not have accomplished what I did during my playing career without an overwhelming amount of support from my family, my friends and many others. I plan to express my gratitude to everyone in a more detailed manner at a later date; however, for now, I want to single out the fans. You are the lifeblood of this sport and, without you, none of us would be fortunate to call ourselves professional soccer players in MLS.
I feel incredibly blessed and lucky to have played a role in the remarkable growth of MLS and US Soccer during my playing career. And while my career as a player will soon be over, rest assured I will stay connected on many levels to the beautiful game.
As we enter a transformative time for the sport, I will do everything I can to help the continued growth of soccer in the United States. I look forward to making a difference, pursuing my passions and meeting all of you along the way in this next phase of my life.
With gratitude,
Landon

End of an era. We could have used him in Brazil, especially after Altidore went out with injury.

Premier League
The English Premier League starts on the 16th of August, bringing us the 23rd season of top flight football in England since breaking away from the Football League Fist Division in 1992.
infinitybet have multiple markets available on every match, as well as league and player future markets.
Over the last 2 decades the league has produced top world class players like David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Robin Van Persie, Andy Cole, Eric Cantona,Xabi Alonso, Carlos Tevez and many manymore.
Right now, another one of its stars, Luis Suarez has just departed from Liverpool (11.00) to Barcelona for an amount of E75 million, making him one of the most expensive players in the world.
The Uruguayan international was a big part of Liverpool’s stunning Premier League campaign last season. He had 33 Appearances with 31 goals. He also won the PFA Player of the Year Award, but the club hasn’t been shy in spending the fee on a number of new signings.
Manchester City (3.10) also strengthened their lineup by breaking the hearts of Chelsea fans and signing Frank Lampard. The English skipper also came with BacarySagnaon a free transfer from Arsenal.
Another transfer highlight is the move of Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez from FC Barcelona to Arsenal (7.00) for £30 million. Arsene Wenger’s attempts to strengthen his squad’s attack by pairing him with German attacking midfielder MesutOzil could see them improve after finishing only fourth in the table last season.
Of course, with all these moves happening this summer, you cannot discount Chelsea (2.80). After selling David Luiz to PSG for E50 million, they have recently gotten back Belgian goalkeeper ThibautCourtois from a loan to Atletico Madrid, and the youngster has proven that he’s a real contender to Peter Cech. Also coming in from Atletico is Spanish striker Diego Costa for a fee of £32 million. The pair from Atleticohad a spectacular La Liga campaign last season helping the squad win the La Liga title and reach the Champions League Final, which by the way involved crushing Chelsea (their now current team) at home.
Also coming in to West London is Barcelona Midfielder and former Arsenal man CescFabregas who can prove to be a good source of assists and goals. And last but not the least, Didier Drogba, a fan favorite at Stamford Bridge has signed a new contract with Jose Mourinho’s squad after a brief stint at Galatasaray.
With all this good news for Chelsea fans, they will be excited to see that their Blues are this years favorites for winning the title.

European Soccer
It hasn’t been a month yet since Germany lifted the World Cup and the World Cup hangover is still in our heads. But European football is back, and it will be just as great as ever!
infinitybet have odds available for all major European Soccer leagues.
Germany’s Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philip Lahm, Boateng, and Mueller are now pumped up and excited to have new teammates Robert Lewandowski from Poland, and Bernat from Spain. Lewandowski is the second superstar (first it was Mario Goetze) signed by Bayern Munich(1.14) from Borussia Dortmund (6.00), their fiercest rivals in the Bundesliga. The signing might have been free for Bayern, but there is no doubt the striker will pour in many goals for the club. Does this make Bayern Munich the obvious choice for its third straight Bundesliga title?
Flying in to Spain, is Bayern Munich’s now former midfielder Toni Kroos, who recently signed for Real Madrid (1.95) in a reported E30 million deal. The 24 year-old rated by the Castrol Performance Index as the best player of the 2014 World Cup will join the reigning UEFA Champions League Winners, who have also brought in Colombian James Rodriguez for E80 million. Meanwhile, rivals FC Barcelona (2.00) have recently signed Uruguayan Luis Suarez from Liverpool for a fee of around E75 million. Suarez is currently appealing to have his suspension lifted, and Barcelona are currently rebuilding themselves. Atletico Madrid (11.00) have lost Diego Costa andThibautCourtois to Chelsea, so it looks increasing unlikely they can repeat their amazing campaign of last year. La Liga will be tightly fought out as usual by Madrid and Barcelona, and given what we witnessed in the Champions league last season with the heroics of Sergio Ramos, their recent headline signings, and the dangerous blending of the top two most expensive players Bale and Ronaldo, could we see a La LIga triumph for Real Madrid this season?
In Italy Juventus(2.00) have won 3 consecutive Scudettotitles, but can they possibly gain a fourth now with Antonio Conte resigning as manager. The league will see Roma (3.25), Fiorentina (15.00), and Inter Milan (15.00), who recently acquired Vidic, surely push Juventus hard until the end of the season.
In France, Paris-St. Germain (1.15)will look to win Ligue 1 for the third straight time. They have just recently acquired Brazilian David Luiz from Chelsea for a fee of E50 million. He will never cry like he did in StadioMinerao after their 1-7 loss to Germany as the reigning French champions have a much stronger lineup, and with teammates Thiago Silva, ZlatanIbrahimovic&EdinsonCavani alongside, PSG are firm favourites to retain their title over Monaco (7.00), Lille (26.00)& Marseille (26.00).
