Michael tries to sell his New Mexico taxpayer funded movie as some sort of benefit to the mentally ill? How does putting a goofy paper mache mask on to make a comedy and mock sufferers of mental illness help the mentally ill cope with their diseases?
    .
If my reading is correct, in 2013, New Mexico chose to GIVE millionaires in Hollywood through ref/undable t/ax credits, $50 million. Meanwhile, that same year, the New Mexico Legislators froze funding to state mental health workers causing them to protest in the streets.

    .

That’s not loans, but rather FR/EE money extracted by taxes from New Mexico citizens transferred by treasury check to Hollywood production companies and actors like Fassbender.
    .
Do people want an actor like Michael trying to help the mentally ill by mocking them on film? Or would they prefer licensed and educated albeit low paid mental health workers assuming this important societal task?

Ironic… Michael, a nonresident making fun of the mentally ill through film got paid by taxpayers, while New Mexico residents trained to help these people professionally, got their funding cut and were booted out of their jobs. Michael, a nonresident Hollywood elite, took to the talk show, festival, premiere and party circuit to pat himself on the back for his good deed to humanity (in his eyes) while state residents were forced to take to the streets to get their low paying jobs actually helping the mentally ill back. Sad.

I mean, the bitter slap in the face to New Mexico citizens by Michael’s callous comments about doing s comedy about MENTAL ILLNESS is that the state of New Mexico is, in my opinion, in a state of mental health chaos due to the freezing of those mental health funds by the government.

I saw an article about the attorney General of NM clearing the first company (accused of fraud) of any wrongdoing. After all the damage was done and something like 30,000 patients were affected by the funding freeze. See article for exact numbers.

I Googled it but I saw no similar audit of the film tax grant program in New Mexico. Despite lots of literature out there that states are finding these programs to be feeding grounds for fraud.
    .
And New Mexico taxpayers pay for the catered MEALS of these productions. I guess it’s not fraud if it’s a fairness that is allowed eh (sarcasm intended)?
    .
When was the last time the state paid for your FREE LUNCH?
    .
I have to buy my own meals or brown bag it to work every day. Why do Hollywood elites get catered MEALS? Other traveling business people write off meal expenses eh? Why can’t they buy their own lunches and deduct it like other people do? Maybe they can afford it if they didn’t have so many handlers and assistants and entourages to pay for eh?
    .

Here’s another interesting article on film refundable tax credits. According to this article, New Mexico loses 76 cents for ever dollar of taxpayer money it transfers to Hollywood millionaires. And fraud in obtaining film credits across the country is a growing concern for legislatures. For instance, an Iowa study showed around 80% of the film tax credits were improperly allotted. That’s appalling.

I wonder if New Mexico has ever done an audit of the Hollywood free pot o money film grant fund expenditures. The Legislature was keen on targeting mental health for an audit eh? Doesn’t Iowa’s experience warrant a look see?

Any mental health workers from New Mexico out there to respond to this?

@NYC don’t mind just one of the finest actors of his generation!

  7. 7
    stillgreen Says:

@Lena he is just an actor, not a politician. Don’t expect to much of him.

  8. 8
    Lena Says:

    @stillgreen:

It’s not Michael I’m expecting something from. It’s regular citizens like you, hopefully. Demanding change through calls to legislators? Discussion on boards? Whatever. Trust me. I don’t think a guy like Fassbender or his ilk cares about anyone but HIMSELF. It’s sad so many people condemn my words and stand up for celebrities while trying to undermine my right to speak up. When the economy collapses, again, greedy opportunistic Hollywood millionaires will have plenty of your and my $$$$$ to survive on. My heart is.with the untold numbers of people who can barely feed and shelter themselves right now.
    .
There’s a picture of Michael on purse forum where he’s engaging in a closed eye snuggly wuggly hug with a fan. PR pose. And the hug looks sarcastically snuggly wuggly smug like “oh look how kind I am…I just looooove my fans…I could just squeeze all of them.”. But, if he and the people in Hollywood truly cared about ordinary poor people they would stop posing with them with PR smiles, and instead, they would man and woman up and get their greedy hands out of the taxpayer cookie jar.

The tax grant programs take money away from the most needy in society and give it (no real questions asked) to greedy Hollywood parasitic millionaires.

If people like you contacted your legislators with a phone call to say “end this nonsense” then we could stop this outrageous nonsensical hedonistic fleecing of an economy already $17,000,000,000,000 in DEBT. (17 trillion)

And I don’t want to hear, “it’s only 1.4 billion. Lena…”. How does anyone think we got to 17 trillion? And it’s state funds. They need those millions. Their revenue is much smaller than the federal government.

And Michael wants to do a musical with Steve McQueen? I doubt seriously that guy would even get phone calls returned if he wasn’t living off of taxpayers as well. Hes scraping the bottom of the barrel as far as profit in Hollywood. Fassbender said they made the movie SHAME in New York because they couldn’t get British people to talk about sex addiction? I don’t believe it. I really don’t.
    ..
It just so happens that NEW YORK is either 1,2,.or 3 in FREE tax money giveaway to for profit Hollywood productions. Around $430,000,000+- in FREE taxpayer money to Hollywood.
    ..
Isn’t it a great schtick to “just be an actor”? I mean, you can smile, and charm, and woo the public, while helping the Hollywood greed machines to fleece taxpayers in a race to the bottom money giveaway.

Think about it. Michael knows what he is involved in. They ALL do. And they conveniently omit the taxpayers funding of their projects on these PR tours right? Just forgetful of facts? Or downplaying something that would tick off lots of folks if they knew the truth?.

I wonder how much of Kardashian’s $28 million salary last year was paid for by public taxpayer funds. Reality shows are eligible for this FREE taxpayer money too in various states. I read each cast member of Duck Dynasty gets $70,000 PER EPISODE of taxpayer funds. Have you seen the Duck Dynasty products in Wal-Mart? Does anyone have any idea how a show like Duck Dynasty brings tourism to a state? Or creates enough jobs and tax revenue to offset a $70,000 per episode payment to each cast member? Why do they get FREE taxpayer money when they are most likely making bank through Wal-Mart product sales?

    um Says:

@Lena: were you at the apple q&a? He hugged and posed with over half the people that stayed after to meet him. While the other actors left he remained and signed autographs. I don’t think that’s sarcastic at all. Maybe you should meet the guy before you judge him for your politics.

    He's amazing Says:

    @um:
Michael is so nice to his fans. Not only a great talent but an great guy.
    And don’t engage Lena.
She always makes really outrageous comments that don’t actually make much sense (see her post here #3), but it’s just a tactic to bait others into some sort of a conversation.
    Lonely people, you know.
I can’t even understand her drivel anymore. This from her post #3, “Michael tries to sell his New Mexico taxpayer funded movie as some sort of benefit to the mentally ill?”
    .
In England, we call that, ‘clutching at straws’.

@Lena: You’re crazy. Funny how no one didn’t even mention your name in this page and here you are flooding the page like the others with your insane comments. You’re obessed with him or just down right hate his guts. Either way you have a serious problem. And you know his fans will be on here and that may be the other reason why you’re being such a pestering b!tch. THE MAN IS AN ACTOR YOU DIP. HE AINT BERNIE MADOFF. GET A LIFE AND STOP WASTING YOUR TIME TALKING TRASH ABOUT A STRANGER.

    Olivia H. Says:

@He’s amazing: That’s what I figure no sane person would devote his or her time talking such rubbish about an actor. She’s missing a few screws and it’s not hard to see that. Anyway my cousin hit a chance to meet him and James McAvoy during the comic con in Califonia for X-men Days of Future Past. And from what my cousin said they are both friendly and polite gentlemen. They even have her their autograph when she asked them for it.
