President Obama Releases Statement on Robin Williams' Death

President Obama has released a statement on the passing of beloved actor Robin Williams, who died from an apparent suicide on Monday (August 11).

Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bangarang Peter Pan, and everything in between. But he was one of a kind. He arrived in our lives as an alien – but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit,” the statement began.

“He made us laugh. He made us cry,” Barack continued. “He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most – from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalized on our own streets. The Obama family offers our condolences to Robin’s family, his friends, and everyone who found their voice and their verse thanks to Robin Williams.”

    Shame Says:

    A little too casual with the use of the President’s first name, Jared people.

    Yeah, I noticed that as well. Don’t think it was intentional or hope it wasn’t. But the informality does seem disrespectful.

    Doesn’t he have far more pressing concerns to comment on…oooh perhaps the humanitarian crisis in Iraq to name one?

    @Shame: I agree about referring to the president by his first name.
    Just call him what everyone knows him as — “Jackass.”

    @reality…He’s commenting on the passing of someone who touched millions of lives. It takes him a few minutes to do this.

    He’s acknowledging a man who gave his time and entertained our troops when deployed abroad. It is appropriate just like the sitting president when Bob Hope died did.

    @Reality: Completely agree.
    And Amanda, #7, “He’s commenting on the passing of someone who touched millions of lives” and yet he’s not commenting on the million lives lost due to his inadequacy and silence on the conflict in the middle east that our country started in the first place.
    This fu**ing celeb-wannabe assh*le needs to get his priorities in order

    Obama go home.
