Peter Capaldi On His 'Doctor Who': 'He's Quite Tough, Joyous, Funny, Sarcastic & Witty'
The two stars of the hit BBC show were joined by show runner Steven Moffatt.
“I loved what Matt [Smith] did with it, but I think anybody who came into the role after him would have to contrast that,” Peter, 56, dished to The Telegraph about his regeneration. “So the most obvious contrast to Matt was to make [Doctor Who] more distant, more spiky.”
He added, “But the Doctor I play is actually very passionate, very enthusiastic … because he gets to roam around time and space and see all these wonderful, wonderful things. He’s quite tough — and he has scars, he bears the scars of his past. I mean, he’s a fabulous character, but I wouldn’t want people to get the wrong idea, to think he’s grim. He’s not grim, he’s actually joyous and joyful and funny and sarcastic and witty.”
