Maria Sharapova to 'Self': I Have a Ferocious Competitive Drive

Maria Sharapova celebrates her Self magazine cover at the Self Made Women event on Monday evening (August 18) in New York City.

The 27-year-old tennis pro, who was joined by editor-in-chief Joyce Chang, hit up Sephora 5th Avenue earlier in the day to promote her new SuperGoop! Personal line.

In Self, Maria chatted about being competitive in her sport.

“I have a competitive drive. It’s ferocious and powerful, and it’s about winning,” Maria said. “When I’m on the court, I’m not thinking about how I look. I do my ponytail in two seconds, and I’m not wearing a stitch of makeup. I’m confident in my skin, and I’m there to play the game.”

FYI: Maria is wearing Kurt Geiger Black Suede Ellen Pumps to the Self event.
