Pamela Anderson Slams ALS Association for Animal Testing

Pamela Anderson is slamming the ALS Association for funding animal testing and says that she will not be completing the Ice Bucket Challenge.

A whopping $41.8 million have been donated over the last month from the challenge compared to just $2.1 million in the same period last year.

“Sorry – I can’t bring myself to do your Ice bucket challenge. I enjoy a good dare- It’s always good to bring awareness – in fun, creative ways / I don’t want to take away from that,” the 47-year-old entertainer wrote on her Facebook account.

“I thought Instead / I’d challenge ALS to stop Animal testing /– Recent experiments funded by the ALS Association, mice had holes drilled into their skulls, were inflicted with crippling illnesses, and were forced to run on an inclined treadmill until they collapsed from exhaustion. Monkeys had chemicals injected into their brains and backs and were later killed and dissected,” Pamela added.

“What is the result of these experiments (other than a lot of suffering)? In the past decade, only about a dozen experimental ALS treatments have moved on to human trials after being shown to alleviate the disease in animals,” Pamela continued. “All but one of these treatments failed in humans—and the one that “passed” offers only marginal benefits to humans who suffer from ALS. This massive failure rate is typical for animal experiments, because even though animals feel pain and suffer like we do, their bodies often react completely differently to drugs and diseases. According to the FDA, 92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal trials fail during the human clinical trial phase.”

“Sophisticated non-animal testing methods—including in vitro methods, advanced computer-modeling techniques, and studies with human volunteers, among others—have given us everything from the best life-saving HIV drugs to cloned human skin for burn victims. Trying to cure human diseases by relying on outdated and ineffective animal experiments isn’t only cruel—it’s a grave disservice to people who desperately need cures.

Please, help scientists make real progress toward treating and curing human diseases by visiting to find and support charities that never harm animals and which pour their time and resources into advanced, promising, human-relevant cures.”

    Nic Says:

This stupid cow.. Every FDA approved drug is tested first on animal (mice) before it’s tested in humans.. Doesn’t this diseased looking cow have hepetice C, I guess she doesn’t take any medication for it because oh know it’s tested on animals… And her Botox , hair dyes, self tanner, make up and probably those fake balloons she calls breasts were all tested in part on animals.

With so many actors etc doing the challenge why do you care if Angelina and Victoria Beckham do it? lol

Victoria Beckham is on social media but she might not want to do it. She might just make a donation or not make a donation at all. Not everyone has to be or want to be a part of this.

I find all of this kind of stupid.

Angelina is not on social media. I doubt that she even heard of this. She is finishing editing Unbroken and leaving for Malta in the next days to start filming so i doubt she even has time.

And she already gives and is a part of so many charity organizations. Let others do it.

    Tom Says:

@Troy, actually neither women refused; Victoria is preparing, as she said when she joined her husband and son on their endeavor, and as for Angie she is on an Island filming. Give these ladies (mothers) time before being so nasty.

Did you do the Ice Bucket Challenge or did you refuse or are you like me writing **** and responding to idiots.

YES! AGREE!! Those who fly alone often have the strongest wings. I appreciate her saying this and making a different statement.

    Being defender Says:

All of the comments are about her looks and sexuality, while in actuality her statements and facts should be the focus. People who attack other people for their looks make themselves sounds unintelligent and mean. Please think before you comment, so I don’t have to waste my time and energy defending something and someone so obviously accurate from people who are so obviously cruel.

    Stop the suffering Says:

Wow thank you Pamela Anderson for informing us of the ANIMAL ABUSE . It took PA to drop knowledge on us all. People should’ve done their research before donating. We all want a cure but not at the expense of suffering lives. If humans want to sacrifice their lives go for it but not defensless animals.

@troy: Brad Pitt was challenges by go pro has he done it? No he hasn’t and I doubt you think he’s a snooty b^tch, you would probably clean his a -hole with your tongue, nasty b^tch.

    just_me Says:

Wait till you or any of your close relatives have any kind of illness. Saddly all the treatments we use for any illness like cancer have been previously tested on anymals. I love animals, I respect them as they are living creatures with feelings, BUT we need these testings so we can overcome problems as terrifying and horrible like cancer or als.

If you ever get sick with any mortal disease, what will you do? treat it with natural and no proved treatments or with real medicine? just think about it.

I’m all in for vegetarian food and no animal testing in cosmetics, but this is a real problem.

    Ava Says:

@ Being defender,.. What facts besides that she’s a hypocrite.. Did a goole search & she has never criticized drug makers of medication for Hep C , so if the drugs save her life doesn’t matter they’re tested on animals but for someone with ALS , they should just shut up and die a slow painful death… Because save the mice.

  16. 16
    Kate Says:

@troy: Victoria Beckam just did it, so…

  17. 17
    blah Says:

All drugs are tested on animals before they do human studies. they do this for every drug in every pharmacticual company. they have to make sure its safe before they are allowed to go on with human tests. they are not allowed to skip this process. (not in australia anyway)

you have to be stupid to think some drugs are tested with out animals. these drugs save lives its unfortunate that the rats and mice need to be tested but it needs to be done.

  18. 18
    koko Says:

They don’t have to test on animals or humans…they can do it on human cells, but it it’s more expensive than rats. I agree with Pamela.

  19. 19
    essie Says:

@Nic: Your comment should be BOLDED. Pam thinks she’s so innocent.

    Troy Says:

And who are you exactly aside from being an a’ss’hole???
Their PR, or just a s’tupid fan?
or a gay man with nothing else to do?

  21. 21
    koko Says:

No animal test is conclusive when it comes to safety of a drug!!!

Check out how many people in India died after testing drugs that were safe for animals…than check the differences between a human organism and and a rat/mice organism.

    You go Pam!!!!

  24. 24
    Al Levibne Says:

C’mon Pam, ease up, mice, mice? People kill them everyday in traps and poison them. C’mon Pam show us those hard nipples.

  25. 25
    Tsutey Says:

Agreed, intelligent and compassionate statement. It is possible to test without animals and one day it will be the norm but just like everything else there will be some people who are ahead of the game who will have stones thrown at them and Pamela is one of them. Making sexist, personal, unrelated comments simply shows the ignorance of the poster.
