Daniel Radcliffe: The Idea of Having a Soulmate is 'Ridiculous'

Daniel Radcliffe is mesmerizing with those eyes on the September 2014 cover of Essential Homme magazine.

Here’s what the 25-year-old What If star had to share with the mag:

On how he picks his roles: “All of the projects I get involved in begin with a fascination with the story. I can’t work within the mindset of ‘Will this script get me further away from Harry Potter?’ or ‘Will this play make people see me differently?’ because I don’t have any control over any of that. All I can do is make the kind of films that I would want to see as an audience member.”

On soulmates: “The idea that there is one person for everyone is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard. With almost seven billion people around the world, how could that even be possible? [In What If] Wallace has a very idealized version of love that is flawed. For me, love is just about being with somebody that makes you incredibly happy and that you want to spend your time with. Someone that, despite how long any day is, their presence immediately lifts your spirits. I don’t believe in fate or destiny.”

On being friends with a girl he had feelings for: “We both admitted to having a thing for each other, but neither of us did anything about it, which I’m actually very happy about because we are still friends today. But it was something that had to be discussed and acknowledged before we could move on.”
