Miley Cyrus Has Homeless Man Accept Her VMA - Watch Video

Miley Cyrus won the award for Video of the Year at the at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, but she did something special for her acceptance speech to raise awareness for homeless people.

The 21-year-old singer had a homeless man go on stage to accept the award she won for her “Wrecking Ball” video.

“All over this city I’ve cleaned your hotel rooms. I’ve been an extra in your movies. I’ve been an extra in life,” the man said. “Though I may have been invisible to you on the streets, I have a lot of the same dreams that brought you here tonight. Los Angeles, entertainment capitol, has the largest percentage of homeless youth in America. The music industry will make over $7 billion this year and outside these doors are 54,000 who have no place to call home. If you want to make a powerful change in the world right now, please join us by going to Miley‘s Facebook page. A dream you dream alone is only a dream, but a dream you dream together is reality.”

You all better shut up and keep calm! I don’t like her too much, but this really made me respect her at least a bit! Like even if it was all fake and for publicity, she did it, so what? You can’t change it and just look, she won one of the most important award of this night and instead of breaking down, going there and giving “thankful” speech, she decided to send there some homeless guy(even if he wasn’t homeless, just random guy) and let him talk about this problem of youths in USA…so shut up, because this is really problem and it’s good that actually they warm us and use just this chance to do it, because i bet most of you would run there, fake crying and repeating thanks to family, fans and friends and didn’t mind about real problems, yes maybe this all was fake and for publicity, but she just did it…

Fake or not, this will bring awareness to homeless teens. I’m definetly not a teen, but does anybody remember Marlon Brando won and award and a really beautiful American Indian dressed up in “costume” ?(sorry if I’m policically incorect, as I’m a senior). Here’s part of the article.

I cSacheen Littlefeather (born Marie Louise Cruz,[1] November 14, 1946) is an American Indian civil rights activist. She is best known for presenting a speech on behalf of actor Marlon Brando, for his performance in The Godfather, when he boycotted the 45th Academy Awards ceremony on March 27, 1973, in protest of the treatment of Native Americans by the film industry. She wore an Apache dress on the occasion.
Marlon Brando became involved with the American Indian Movement (AIM) in the early 1970s. In 1973, he decided to make a statement about the Wounded Knee incident and contacted AIM about providing a person to accept the Oscar for him. Dennis Banks and Russell Means picked Sacheen Littlefeather.[citation needed]

She represented Brando and his boycott of the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal as Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather (1972), as a way to protest the ongoing siege at Wounded Knee and Hollywood’s and television’s misrepresentation of American Indians. Brando had written a 15-page speech for Littlefeather to give at the ceremony, but when the producer met her backstage he threatened to physically remove her or have her arrested if she spoke on stage for more than 60 seconds.[5] Her on-stage comments were therefore improvised. She then went backstage and read the entire speech to the press. In his autobiography My Word Is My Bond, Roger Moore (who presented the award and had recently been announced as the new James Bond, Agent 007) claims he took the Oscar home with him and kept it in his possession until it was collected by an armed guard sent by the Academy.

The incident provoked the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to rule out future proxy acceptance of the Academy Awards

That was 42 years ago and it was really shocking at the time.
Just wanted to give everybody a blast from the past.
I was repulsed by Miley last year, but she has got a good voice. She had nowhere to go but up from that gig so I really liked what she did.

    lolpp Says:

well id rather see her do stuff like this than playing with herself onstage

    juju Says:

FYI Jared editing team, he was homeless. Your title sounds so inhuman.

  22. 22
    Gia Says:

I don’t care about her but it’s a sad truth, many teens go to LA to find fame but all they find is no place to sleep, strangers molesting them and spiral into drug abuse as a way to cope. Many have died to be where Miley and others are when they should have other options. Why is college so expensive? Why are so many kids failing to get a high school degree? Why are there so few job opportunities for young people and why do the ones that exist have so low wages that they barely cover rent?

    Max Savage Says:

Hmm, very confused here if this really IS genuine :/

Dont get me wrong, I believe that maybe she might have sympathetically lended out a momentary voice to the world to explain the awareness of homeless people and children in america, that I respect.
What bothers me still is the possibly hidden “publicity” side of this, why not name the legitimate organization or website that supports awareness of the homeless instead of telling us to go direct ourselves to her facebook?
Also, giving his speech by reading out from the cards doesn’t make it look or sound like he meant it or not, he could have been put up to it.
Either way, whatever it was I suppose I finally do have some small margin amount of respect for her as a person for caring at least.

  24. 24
    Really Says:

You’ve got to be shitting me. I think she was a better actress on Hannah Montana. This was a publicity stunt and an attempt to make Miley seem like something more than a Purdue chicken shaking her ass.

    Diedre Says:

Wow, using a homeless person as a prop is low, even for Smelly.
