Robin Williams' Emmys 2014 Tribute from Billy Crystal (Video)

Billy Crystal takes to the stage to pay tribute to his longtime friend Robin Williams at the 2014 Emmy Awards held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Monday (August 25) in Los Angeles.

The 66-year-old actor spoke about Robin following the In Memoriam montage, which featured a performance from Sara Bareilles doing a rendition of “Smile.”

“He made us laugh hard, every time you saw him on television, in arenas, hospitals, homeless shelters, and even in a dying girl’s living room,” Billy said. “The relentless energy was kind of thrilling. I used to think if I could just put a saddle on him and stay on for eight seconds…”

“It’s very hard hard to talk about him in the past because he was so present in all of our lives,” Billy added.

What a poor tribute! Mr. Wlliams’s talent as a dramatic actor, not just as a comic, could have been highlighted rather than the undignified comic clips that were shown.

his inside the actors studio appearance was my fave he was soo funny, i think because we know him as a comin actor more than a serious actor they forcued on that

@Margaret Walker: robin Williams won 2 emmy’s for comedy and was nominated many other time for comedy performances so hence why his comedic side was highlighted not his dramatic side. This tribute was perfect.Plus the Oscars will probably remember him as well and will highlight both his dramatic and comedic side since he gained nominations(for roles in both comedy and drama) and won an Oscar for his role in good will hunting. The golden globes might also do something.

From ALL the things he did… all the sketches and gigs and so on… ALL the thousand and thousand of things… they decided to choose the headscarf-desgrading-iranian-thing?!?!?
Yeah, let’s f** the middle-east with the help of a deceased entertainer!

Emmys, you suck HARD!!!!

That deep silence at the end of the tribute…

Letterman’s was so much better, but it was sincere enough, I’ll give it that, just not really clever
