Sam Smith Isn't Trying To Be A Gay Spokesperson

Sam Smith suits up sharp for the 2014 GQ Men Of The Year Awards held at The Royal Opera House in London, England on Tuesday night (September 2).

The 22-year-old musician was on hand to present New Order with the Inspiration Award.

The next day, Sam stopped by BBC Radio Studios for a performance on the Live Lounge.

“I was worried. I didn’t give the public enough credit,” Sam recently shared about coming out as gay just when his debut album hit shelves. “We were really panicky about it, but then as soon as we did it, I am just so proud of how people haven’t reacted.”

He continued, “It’s because I’m not trying to be a spokesperson. It sounds awful of me, but I’m really just trying to live my life and write music about it. That’s what I do. I’m not trying to heal the world.”
