Vanessa Hudgens To Play Gigi on Broadway in New York City!

Another musical is on the horizon for Vanessa Hudgens — as Gigi!

The 25-year-old actress was announced as the lead from the producers of the play, which will have a “pre-Broadway” tryout at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., starting on January 16, 2015, with Eric Schaeffer directing and Joshua Bergasse choreographing. The show will then transfer later to the Broadway stage.

“So excited to play Gigi in @GigiOnBroadway! I hope y’all will have a chance to see me in it when we open at @kencen!!” Vanessa tweeted in excitement.

Gigi, which Leslie Caron brought to life on the big screen in 1958, follows a rich playboy and a youthful courtesan-in-training enjoying a platonic friendship, but it may not stay platonic for long.
