Josh Hutcherson Defends Jennifer Lawrence After Nude Photo Scandal: 'It's Not Fair'

Josh Hutcherson is speaking out about his Hunger Games co-star Jennifer Lawrence after her much-publicized nude photo scandal.

“Actually I haven’t talked to her but I just think all that stuff is so ridiculous,” the 21-year-old actor told ET Canada. “We’re people too man, we just want to live, we want to be normal people, it’s not fair.”

When asked how he got through his own nude scandal in 2013, Josh said, “I think everyone has their own way of getting through it. It’s something you obviously don’t want to happen to you and its really unfortunate that it happens but, I don’t know, I hate the way the world sort of views those sorts of issues. It’s really truly not fair.”

He continued, “We are actors, we didn’t get into this because we wanted scandal. We want to live our lives and be actors and like Jen and I always say…people say well you chose to be an actor you are going to have to deal with this kind of thing…well No, I started when I was 9 years old she started when she was like 12. We didn’t chose to have public scandal, we chose to become artists of acting and I love making movies this is what I can do, this is what I am good at. So its like because this is what I am good at and this is my career means I also have to suffer on this other side? Like, it’s not very fair.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK about Josh Hutcherson’s thoughts on the Jennifer Lawrence scandal?

    Poor boy. Life just isn’t fair… Give me a break.

  • em

    @CM:
    seriously. It all goes with the territory. I hate it when people complain about being famous and all that goes with it.

  • SHINE

    none of his business

  • I agree

    He’s right, and he’s defending his friend. I agree with what he is saying. didn’t know he had nude pics exposed as well.

  • LOL

    @I agree:

    I agree with you, and I wonder why anyone would object to his pov. Why does the public think they are entitled to know what goes on in the privacy of an actor or actresses personal life. Yes reality tv stars choose that invasion of their private life but your standard actor is not obligated to revealing their private moments with the public or tabloid media. Do people pry into their co-workers lives as well?

  • LOL

    Just when everyone had forgotten about it?

  • J-Law SUCKS

    It’s not fair? Who said life is fair? You make millions of dollars and use the press when it’s convenient for you, but the rest of the time, you want to be “normal people?” A moron knows that when you are a celeb, you lose part of your privacy. That’s the price you pay for all the rich, glamorous perks you get (and never mention), while we go to work every day to make ends meet. Cry me a river.

  • surprise

    Im shocked! Is the girl on that picture the same of those nude pics?

  • Julia

    #GOINGNOW to find those nude leaks

  • @J-Law SUCKS

    @J-Law SUCKS:

    Jealous much are we, that’s all I’m saying. You could have tried your hand at being an actor or actress as well.

  • I agree

    @LOL: It’s wrong. No one has the right to steal or expose something you want to keep private.
    It’s a sick way of thinking and it just shows that some people are voyeurs.
    I’m happy to see other people standing up to this.
    If nobody says anything it’s going to keep going.
    If some people wanna share certain things, ok.
    If they don’t, leave them alone.

    Yes people do pry into their co-workers lives, their neighbors and especially their own family. People are NOSY. Celebrities put themselves in this position because they are willing to talk about their private lives. Who hasn’t heard parts of Jennifer Lawrence’s escapades that you wished she’d kept quiet about. They chose what they tell the public and then cry foul when the public wants to know more. Besides, celebrity pictures are worth a lot of money, nudes even more.
    .

    The public doesn’t have a right, but celebrities give up some of their privacy every time they say something that is not related to their work. Josh isn’t that naive, he’s just defending his friend which should be commended, but really, what was SHE thinking. If you store those type of pictures on any media they are subject to be stolen or hacked, who doesn’t know that? When they get exposed you just have to suck it up and move on.
    .
    The person stealing this information should be prosecuted, but it can’t undo what has been done, everyone who wants to, have seen those pictures. Those celebrities just have to live with. The interesting thing isn’t so much the pictures, but who was taking them. I know, I know, the public doesn’t have the right to know, but it doesn’t mean they can’t question.

  • Angie

    but did he take the photos?

  • Lena

    Awwwww….poor baby. He was dragged into the life at 9, and now that he’s famous, he’s stuck, so let him get a trouble free life unlike the rest of us 7 billion.

    “Shucks….You non celebrity guys just don’t know how easy you have it worrying about getting all your stuff thrown out on the lawn after getting evicted after losing your minimum wage job. I can’t decide if I want to go surfing in Hawaii or Australia. And it’s so much harder trying to decide on Ferrari or Bentley than it is on deciding to spend the last $5 you have on diapers or a gallon of milk for your kid,” says Josh wiping the tears away from his red crying eyes…..

  • Dani

    @J-Law SUCKS: I can’t agree more. Life’s not fair also to the people who are not rich (what a discovery to the celebrities! they probably don’t know that…) and they have to cope somehow without having so much resources. Give me that kind of money and paparazzi can stand outside my door whenever they want to.

  • Johnny

    The jealousy on here is crazy. If you wanted to be rich then you should have tried a career path that can get you rich. You would feel the same way they do if you had that kind of money, you are a person just like them and want privacy. Their is a difference from actors/actresses to reality celebs who do sell their lives for a buck. I’m not rich by any means and I respect their right to privacy. Geez.

  • macarena

    They are so liberal

  • HA!!!

    @@J-Law SUCKS: “Jealous?” Please….Everyone is always so “jealous” anytime they make a comment. You j-law fans are morons. There are plenty of other actresses (who are prettier, too) that I’d rather be jealous of than her and her foul mouth.

  • You are stupid

    @Johnny: You are an idiot. Did anyone say they wanted to be rich? Do you know how to read? People like this who use the spotlight to promote their careers need to shut up about it not being fair. Th elack of privacy goes with the territory. If they don’t like it, they can go do something else.

  • And…

    @Dani: They also have the resources for big private mansions, extra security, and alot of things to ensure day to day privacy that we don’t have or need. They always seem to play the victim card, but they are the ones putting themselves out there.

  • No

    She’s such a good person!!! Leave her alone!!!

  • Dani

    @And…: I agree. And so many people are buying that “victim card”. It’s sad. Of course somebody will say in a minute that we’re jealous…
    They can be private whenever they want to be. If it’s convenient for them and they have movie (or anything else) to promote they’re not because it means publicity and as a result fame and money. They play with media and when it turns against them they whine that whole world is invading their privacy…

  • Johnny

    @Dani:

    There is a difference between promoting a movie and telling a funny story about your life and having your private photos hacked from your phone, being chased around by paps who are rude and vulgar, and having every thing you do scrutinized. Do not tell me that if you were in their shoes you would accept that as normal because if you do well then you are lying to yourself.

  • Johnny

    And you keep saying they are putting themselves out there but really for this girl does she? I dont think so she disappears off the face of the earth when not promoting a movie. I totally understand your point in relation to reality celebs such as the House Wifes, Kardashians, etc. but alot of movie actresses and actors don’t do what you are saying, they look at acting as their craft. JLaw, Marion Colltiard, Jessica Chastain, Meryl Streep, Lupita Lyongo, etc. do try to have a private life and a public life which is certainly justifiable for them.

  • bicurious

    I encourage those of you who disagree with Josh to google image search of “Josh Hutcherson Nude” and come back and tell us if you still think the public has a right to see those photos. I’d be even more pissed of then he seems to be. He signed up to be an actor not a porn actor and it is just plain wrong that there are photos of him in flagrante delicto with himself and with others.

  • alexa

    if you wanted ‘just’ to act, coz that is what u’r good at maybe theater would be a good idea, I heard somewhere there’s plenty of acting there ;P
    but U choose Hollywood and piles of cash
    if u wanna be just a normal guy be a theater actor, and make just as much as the rest of the world.

    Coz the 54 000 000 $ that she is worth according to http://www.therichest.com, is I would say a nice recompense, don’t U think ?!?!?

  • anon.

    I have no comment regarding this situation but the picture they used for this is just hilarious LOL

  • Hmm

    @alexa:

    Ah no. Again they have every right to privacy as any other, lots of people in this world make millions its the way the world works but that doesnt mean we have a right to know everything about them or invade their privacy. It’s thinking like this that is wrong with our society.

  • pah-lease

    You can argue about whether or not celebrities have it hard or shouldn’t be shown any sympathy all you want.

    BUT…at least Hutcherson publicly personally showed his support for his friend Lawrence, That’s far more than her supposed “boyfriend” Martin has done during this whole mess.

    When the nude pics broke, he was in the Hamptons with his ex and kids, and stayed there. He didn’t fly out immediately to be with Lawrence. It wasn’t until 3 days later he showed his “support” for her by speaking about the pics, and only then through “sources”. He has yet to publicly personally give any comment about the pics or his “support” for her.

    Hutcherson is being a true friend to Lawrence. Martin is just a parasite who links himself with Lawrence when it means publicity for him.

  • seriously!

    What is wrong with people these days ?!! .. So just because someone decided to become an actor , make a career in the entertainment industry does not justify the morons of the world to have an opinion on how they live their lives . I don’t believe their private and personal lives is anyone business but their own . It is unfortunate that we live in a world where regular anonymous idiots get to use the internet and spew nasty , hateful comments about people they don’t know . They don’t owe anyone jack sh!t … they do their jobs you pay to see it .. end of story . .. but that’s not enough for you all .. you live a boring a$$ life so talking sh!t about people is all you know , you think it makes you feel important but all it does is show how ignorant and stupid people really are !!!…

  • YES

    We are all in love with JL. Now we know why Jack Nicholson sent her flowers!!! Why Members in the Academy loves JL… the Academy is 77% male!!

  • STOP BEING MEAN!

    We are all human! I hate it when people just assume that famous celebrities such as Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence, have better lives than everyone else, just because they are rich and famous. They don’t really, they have the world watching their every move waiting for them to do something ‘bad’ just so that they can broadcast in the media, so they can make money and publicly shame them! It really isn’t fair. They are human just like everybody else and they too go through the same problems that many of us ‘ordinary people’ do. I wish people would just stop saying ‘get over it’. They have feelings to you know!
