Mindy Kaling Says Joan Rivers Taught People To Not Take Things Personally

Mindy Kaling is all smiles while onstage as the featured guest at AOL’s Build Speaker Series at AOL Studios on Friday afternoon (September 12) in New York City.

The 35-year-old The Mindy Project star remembered the late comedian Joan Rivers while at the event.

“Joan was so incredible for so many reasons,” Mindy said, as reported by The Huffington Post. “She was completely fearless and totally fine with taking an insult.”

She continued to say: “We can’t be offended when people call girls ugly. We can’t be offended when boys say that they think we’re fat. Those are things that should not be important to us. She was both someone who dished a lot, but also taught, ‘Hey, don’t take it personally.’ So that was very inspiring.”

Earlier that day, Mindy showed off her colorful side on her way to Today.
