Orlando Bloom Might Return for 'Pirates of the Carribean 5'!

Orlando Bloom wears a perfectly fitted blue button-down shirt while sitting on stage at Oz Comic Con on Saturday (September 13) in Sydney, Australia.

The 37-year-old actor reportedly told fans at a separate Comic Con event this week that he is considering joining the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

“There have certainly been some discussions about it and I’m open to it,” Orlando told the crowd (via Yahoo). “That whole experience working with Johnny and [director] Gore [Verbinski] was really amazing for me.”

“I had a great time working with Johnny, one of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because [he] was involved,” he added. “I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift.”

I didn’t even see Pirates 4. No Orlando, no interest. He’s the only thing that made Johnny bearable.
If they went back and took their time to create a good script, it might be worth the price of a ticket. Oh, who am I kidding? I’d pay good money just to see Orlando in pirate garb and tall boots once again.
    Oh yes!

What in tha fack happened to his hair? And please Orlando, Johnny Depp acts the same in every movie, like a gay cracked out drunk.

  • Cringe….

Poor Orlando, all the Indie movies he’s done over the last 9 years have all flopped so now he has to go back to playing Legolas & Will Turner again as he can’t get cast in any other big serious movies.

His problem is at nearly 38 he’s no longer the young pretty boy actor but now just looks like an aging pretty boy actor that hasn’t been able to adapt & change as he’s gotten older.
Playing Romeo on Broadway just reinforced once again that same point, one critic even pointed out he was more like an over the hill guy from an aging boy band than young Romeo.
There has also many comments that his face looked so weird in the Hobbit with all the CGI to make him look younger.

He needs to cut his hair & go with a more mature look if he’s ever going to be taken seriously by directors as there are too many other young pretty actors these days that have taken his place.

Once the last Hobbit movie is released there will be no more Legolas for him but I guess he can still make appearances at conventions like he’s doing now to keep busy!!!

  • IDLTrolls

@Cringe….: Yeah, yeah. Being chased after by the prods of the biggest movie franchises in a movie history, having a successful Broadway debut and being praised by people and the theater critics who actually understand theater, having the praises and noms for the Best Actor for his work and having his Indie as the official choice of Cannes Film Festival as a closing movie, being the main draw for the people from all over the world to come, say to Australia, just to see him and get the autograph and the picture with him, etc., etc. – now that means he is “ruined,” no less. LOL. He is practically desperate for the advice from the village idiot and a jelly trolly that you are. Your impressive achievements in life and the lack of sense of style will “save” his career, ROTFL. You just so masochistically love to be proved wrong, aye? – Attention at any cost! LOL. I imagine how badly you can’t get over the fact that Disney is begging Orlando to come back now. Bloom proved his point. You didn’t. Poor you. :)

    P. S. Have to give you a credit: once again your nicknames fit all of your “personalities.” LOL.

Back on the topic: Orlando looks amazing. I’m reading the responses from the people who met him and I’m glad even more people see how genuine this man is.
Bloom is a great actor. Will Turner is my favorite character. Without him POTC are dead. I want him and Keira back. They are the heart and soul of these movies. Disney was cruel to them and their fans. It’s time to change that. I’m glad Orlando showed who is the boss. :)

  • Ha

Seems like everybody’s in Australia right now.. I think Orlando looks hot. I love the hair! I agree with @k: After the third Pirates of the Caribbean, the franchise went downhill. I mean, I like Johnny Depp but he was overacting the craziness in the last few movies and it made his character a bit annoying. I started to dislike him. I might give the franchise a chance if Orlando’s back…… though it’d be best if Keira Knightley would come back too because they’re supposed to be together, right….

  • Ohhh the looove

Every single line around his eyes would deserve a kiss! He just keeps getting better <3

He looks amazing, its like staring at the sea for a long time, so relaxing to the soul to see him

  • LOOOOL

@passing doo: Um, please stupid troll watch more of Johnny’s movies before talking and stating such an invalid statement! Have you seen any of his movies other than the Pirates movies? He acts completely different in every movies.

I don’t remember him acting like a “gay cracked out drunk” in Transcendence, Finding Neverland, Blow, Public Enemies, Donnie Brasco, Arizona Dream, Benny & Joon and on and on and on.

Orlando talked about working with him and how nice he was you idiot.

  • LOOOOL

    Every movie**

  • LOOOOL

@k: The 4th one that made a billion dollar and was the second highest grossing movie of the series? Clearly the franchise is just fine without him.

Johnny is what made these movies great. His brilliant, now iconic performance as Jack Sparrow is what saved the first film from flopping. Orlando was the unbearable one but Johnny’s brilliant performance made him bearable, as it saved Keira from being unbearable too.

  • Awwwee

Johnny Depp acted as a father figure on the set of “Into the Woods,” says young star Lilla Crawford.

“Johnny has two children, and he would always talk about them and seemed like such a great dad,” Crawford told us at the Libertine fashion show.

“He was so fatherly to me…They accidentally dumped a bucket of leaves on my head and all the makeup and hair team came rushing over to me…but Johnny Depp was like, ‘I got this,’ and he started picking the leaves out of my hair one by one.”

  • Moi

Orlandos looking super hot. He looks better than he has for ages. Whoever she is she’s making him really happy. Not one of the best actors about but wouldn’t miss potc 5 if he is in it

  • @12

Yeah, one critic said that he looked like an aging pretty boy, but those critics who actually commented on his acting, and not his beautiful, maturing face, were impressed. And if you can impress the critics who write for the NYT and Variety, you’ve done a very good job on stage.
He’s had a hard time breaking out of the ‘dashing hero’ pigeon hole that he was dumped in with LOTR and continued by POTC, but that is a normal reaction by studios. He was just so identified as the handsome, gallant, heroic and selfless characters that he played in (then) six blockbusters, that studios couldn’t see him as anything else. That’s probably one of the reasons that he went to indies. Not only was he given a chance to stretch his acting muscles, but also to play characters that big studios wouldn’t let him play. He begged Mark Ruffulo for a chance to read for the drugged up, foul mouthed, egotistical rocker in Sympathy for Delicious. Mark admitted that he wouldn’t have originally considered him for a character like that because of his ‘type’, but hired him immediately for the role after hearing him read. All Orlando needed was a chance.
He’s now getting rave reviews for his role in Zulu, playing a role that is light years away from Legolas and Will. Those accolades may open up more ‘non pretty’ roles for him, but we will have to wait and see. He starts filming in November for a movie with Michael Douglas, but I have no idea what kind of role it is.
And let’s keep one thing straight. Orlando didn’t ‘have’ to go back to Legolas, and he doesn’t ‘have’ to go back to Will. He has enough money to never ‘have’ to work again. He didn’t approach these studios, they went after him. Even re-writing Tolkein to add one him to their films. That alone proves that he is still a huge draw.
I’m not sure what he did to make you dislike him so. But your dislike has caused you to have a selective memory. Maybe you should start following an actor that you actually like, instead of one that you seem to despise.

  • @22

All of those movies but Transcendence were made before POTC.
After he played Jack, he went through a stint where it seemed that he was playing the same character. Jack = the Mad Hatter = Willy Wonka = Barnabus (which, even though I love him, I will never forgive him for).
All of these were played as Captain Jack, just in different clothes. He was becoming a joke. He finally stopped being so lazy in his character developement for Transcendence, but that movie didn’t do well at the theaters, which is a shame, since I thought that he did a really good job in the role.
I may be sounding a bit hard on Johnny, but I’ve been a fan of his since 21 Jump Street. I was just getting so frustrated with him playing the same character that he started to p*ss me off. But I will always support his films. Which is why I sat through Transcendence. Ugh
    Back at #12…..
Johnny is wealthy enough to not ‘have’ to do POTC again. Do you think that he is pathetic for returning to Jack? Or does your hate for sweet Orlando allow you to wallow in hypocrisy like your fellow trolls? Just curious.

  • James

    seriously a fifth one? DESPERATE.

  • Me

@LOOOOL: I understand that you like Depp but I think calling people names won’t help you to prove the point. I’ve seen several movies with Depp and I have to say that he is, in fact, a very monochromatic actor. He depends a lot on his make up and the costume his character wears. The problem is that he never got the professional education and that limits his acting range a lot. He simply doesn’t know how to make the new character that is “not Depp.” And after POTC he can’t get out of his “Sparrow” costume. Alice, Lone Ranger, Tourist, etc. – Depp couldn’t even change the way he walks, for Goodness sake! He is typecast into the roles of “outsiders,” “weird guys” sort of thing. Can you imagine him playing the straight good guy and be interesting and convincing? He tried (Chocolate) and failed. Bloom can do it in his sleep and its way harder to play a good convincing guy than a bad guy, or drunkard or any of this sort. I’m talking about the quality of the character delivery.
Depp works better with the strong cast near to help him and with the strong director but on his own he has not enough knowledge, abilities and professional skills to be interesting. Why do you think he was called “Box Office poison” before POTC? Why do you think his movies after POTC weren’t successful? Alice got the BO but without Depp it woud be the big BO because there is a lack of the good movies for kids. Granted, Alice is a horrendous movie but the book is very popular.
Depp got VERY lucky with POTC because Bloom, Rush, Nighy, Davenport were near. The worse thing is that he is spoiled by all the PR he got (thanks to Bruckheimer) and he doesn’t want to bother to evolve as an actor. He is not the worst actor in Hollywood but he is far from brilliant. And, honestly, you shouldn’t compare him with Orlando because from the professional POV Depp looses greatly. On all accounts.
Depp can’t carry a movie on his own and it was proved not once. On Stranger Tides is unbearable trash. Don’t get me started on The Lone Ranger.
Anyway, to me POTC are always about the strong characters of Will and Elizabeth. I like Norrington and Barbossa. But I don’t care if Sparrow is in it. There are always options to find a comic relief character or a anti-hero catalyst but it’s very hard to find the real heroes for the movies like POTC.

  • Me

@LOOOOL: On Stranger Tides made $$ on the previous glory of the original trilogy. And I remember that many people who actually went to see it were like: “Where are Will and Elizabeth? We want to see how their story will be developing!” My colleague (and he is not even a fan of POTC, he just likes go to movies) said: “Why even bother to make POTC movie without Will?” Many examples like that.
The ending of POTC3 was utterly unsatisfying for a lot of people. About the Box Office: if you check the charts with the adjusted numbers (tickets inflation rates, etc.) you will see that you are wrong. The 4th movie stands on the last place and behind the POTC3 on several accounts. Plus, the ROI was lower and that’s understandable: many Will and Elizabeth’ fans boycotted the movie. I know I did. The DVD sales also don’t look good towards On Stranger Tides comparing with the original trilogy.
Depp’s performance as Sparrow is uneven through the movies. He slips on the acting basics. Worst: he agreed to play Sparrow OOC in the 4th movie and instantly stopped being interesting as a personage and at least mildly convincing.
I disagree with you about Orlando’s work. Bloom’s performance as Will Turner is brilliant. Keira had couple of problems acting-wise from my POV but the director should’ve helped her – she was the youngest in the main cast after all. Overall, she is convincing as Elizabeth and I like her personage. I wish Keira would’ve forgiven whatever hurt he got from filming the 3rd movie and came back. She should consider her comeback as a payback to the prods who ruined the franchise. Will and Elizabeth is the strongest and the best movie couple Disney created in years. Without them POTC lost its heart and soul.

  • Elena

Today On Keeping Up With The Kerrdashians: “My career is on life support and I an faced with the possibility of having to pull the plug so rather than that, I will go back to yet another over baked role, this time in a franchise that is well passed it’s expiration date. I s*ck,” said Bloom.

  • @32

You consider appearing in a huge movie coming out in December and signing for more as being on life support?
Wow. What would you say about 90% of the other actors out there?

  • IDLTrolls

@Elena: See? You are feeling better! And you are back to your “make up a fake record for school” routine! Practically back to “normal,” LOL. So, you think that you are “Bloom” now? LOLOLOL. Freud would have died to have you as a patient! OK, I can’t stop laughing now.! Thank you for the good mood! ROTFL.

  • KK

@Me: This is all so wrong and pathetic and laughable. Are you crazy? Are you sure you actually saw much of Depp’s work? You are obviously a fan of Orlando which makes it even worse! He is nothing compared to the brilliant Johnny Depp.

“Can you imagine him playing the straight good guy and be interesting and convincing? He tried (Chocolate) and failed. ”

Yes I can because he did it successfully in many successful, acclaimed movies! He was nominated for the Oscar and every prestigious award out there for playing a “straight good guy” in Finding Neverland and he was interesting and convincing.

How exactly did he fail in the big commercial and critical hit that was Chocolat? The move was nominated for 5 Oscars and he was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild for it.

  • KK

@Me: ” I’ve seen several movies with Depp and I have to say that he is, in fact, a very monochromatic actor. He depends a lot on his make up and the costume his character wears.”

Oh, he wears makeup and costumes in some movies! Just like all actors/actresses do!

Just because he is wearing makeup and a costume in Pirates (for example) it doesn’t mean that his performance isn’t amazing. Makeup and costumes don’t make people automatically act, sweetie.

“He simply doesn’t know how to make the new character that is “not Depp.” ”

That’s interesting because I don’t see Orlando making new characters that are “not Orlando.” he plays no one but himself.

Depp actually tries to make new and interesting characters and he is doing just that in the upcoming Mortdecai which is nothing like anything he’s done before.

“And after POTC he can’t get out of his “Sparrow” costume. Alice, Lone Ranger, Tourist, etc. – Depp couldn’t even change the way he walks, for Goodness sake!”

I don’t remember him acting like “Sparrow” in Finding Neverland, The Libertine, Secret Window, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Public Enemies, etc!

and how was he in his “Sparrow” costume in Alice, Lone Ranger, Tourist???????????? He actually changed the way he walks which is quite admirable! Just because he was running like he does in The Tourist, and not like Sparrow does.

“He is typecast into the roles of “outsiders,” “weird guys” sort of thing.”

Typecast? Not when his roles are nothing alike.

“Bloom can do it in his sleep and its way harder to play a good convincing guy than a bad guy, or drunkard or any of this sort. I’m talking about the quality of the character delivery.”

    LOOOOOL.

“Depp works better with the strong cast near to help him and with the strong director but on his own he has not enough knowledge, abilities and professional skills to be interesting.”

Oh please they’ve got nothing to do with how he makes his performances and how they turn out. He is a great artist who knows what he is doing but what you are saying actually fits Orlando perfectly. He is a useless vanilla actor who he has not enough knowledge, abilities and professional skills to be interesting.

Depp had great artistic input in everything he’s done since 1990.

“Why do you think he was called “Box Office poison” before POTC?”

Because he didn’t make big budget movies that are supposed to make money? Although Chocolat, Sleepy Hollow, Donnie Brasco, Benny & Joon and Edward Scissorhands were successful.

“Why do you think his movies after POTC weren’t successful? Alice got the BO but without Depp it woud be the big BO because there is a lack of the good movies for kids. Granted, Alice is a horrendous movie but the book is very popular.”

Hahahahaha what kind of delusion of this? Did you even check facts? Once Upon A Time In Mexico, Secret Window, Finding Neverland, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd, Public Enemies, Rango and even The Tourist were all successful at the box office.

“Depp got VERY lucky with POTC because Bloom, Rush, Nighy, Davenport were near.”

Um, no, not really. They are the ones who got lucky that he was near and was the reason for them to be in a huge hit. They had nothing to do with his amazingly brilliant portrayal of Jack Sparrow. Nobody did but him.

“and he doesn’t want to bother to evolve as an actor.”

Are you talking about Orlando? Yes, he doesn’t. Depp on the other hand does and always tries his hands on different things.

“And, honestly, you shouldn’t compare him with Orlando because from the professional POV Depp looses greatly. On all accounts.”

Depp has been nominated for the Oscar 3 times and won the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Caesar awards and other 56 acting award. What has Orlando ever won? Has he even been nominated for a Golden Globe?? He is the only who loses greatly on all accounts.

“Depp can’t carry a movie on his own and it was proved not once. On Stranger Tides is unbearable trash. Don’t get me started on The Lone Ranger.”

No he does and it’s been proved by all the movies that he headlined. He carried Stranger Tides very well and worked greatly with the weak script he had. He also carried The Lone Ranger in which he was playing a secondary character!

  • Lol

Hilarious how the delusional Depp fans pretend that Johnny is a big draw when he isn’t Captain Jack.
Dark Shadows was a FLOP. As was The Lone Ranger. As was Transcendence. As was The Tourist.
The Mad Hatter acted exactly like Jack. And so did Barnabus (minus the flailing).
He needs to forget that he ever played Jack. He was brilliant in Neverland and Blow. Then he just got lazy. His acting in Transcendence was dull and lackluster. Maybe he felt hemmed in because they didn’t want him playing the fool.
Let us know if he ever decides to be an actor again. I miss the old, talented Johnny, too.

  • PuppyLove

Please, no more Pirates! Johnny Depp was brilliant in “From Hell” and “Libertine.” Orlando Bloom showed his range in “Extras” and “The Good Doctor.” Pirates is NOT the only thing either can do, and I wish they would remind us of that!

  • KK

@Lol: Hilarious how the delusional Depp haters pretend that Johnny is only a big draw when he is Captain Jack when he had lots of big hits outside of the Pirates movies.

“Dark Shadows wasa FLOP. As was The Lone Ranger. As was Transcendence. As was The Tourist.”

Oh so he is not a big draw just because he’s had a few flops? All big boxoffice draws has flops.

The tourist made $278 million, it was not a flop.

“TheMad Hatter acted exactly like Jack. And so did Barnabus (minus the flailing).”

Not really. Well only if you were high on drugs I guess because they acted and sounded and felt nothing like alike.

    “Then he just got lazy.”

    Johnny never got lazy.

“His acting in Transcendence was dull and lackluster. Maybe he felt hemmed in because they didn’t want him playing the fool.”

Yeah because he was forced to do it! His acting was fine and actually fitting for the role. His acting was quite touching towards the end.

“Let us know if he ever decides to be an actor again.”

Oh yeah because he never acted recently, right? You think what he does is too easy huh? Just try to act like he does and see if you can ACT!
