Dan Stevens Discusses Going From 'Downton Abbey' to Playing a Mad Man in 'The Guest'
Dan Stevens suits up and looks very suave at The Guest special screening held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Tuesday evening (September 16) in Brooklyn, New York.
The 31-year-old actor, who met up with actress Amy Ryan at the event, just talked about what it was like to go from Downton Abbey to playing a bad guy with an American accent in The Guest.
“I couldn’t have sat down two years ago and said, ‘Okay [Downton Abbey's] Julian Fellowes, what I actually want to do is a twisted action thriller black comedy with horror elements. Preferably with an American accent.’ That would have been insane and also highly implausible,” Dan told IndieWire. “But as soon as that opportunity came along, it seemed like a reality. If you believe that you yourself could do something — and I read things and I’m like I don’t know if I actually can pull it off…I think it’s yourself that you have to convince as much as anyone, really.”
FYI: Dan is wearing a Thom Sweeney suit.
