NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Admits Many Mistakes Handling Domestic Violence in the League

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell finally broke his silence today (September 19) in a press conference to address the crisis within the league concerning violence, specifically all the player domestic violence situations that have occurred in the recent past.

“We have seen all too much of the NFL doing wrong. That starts with me,” the 55-year-old Commissioner said. “I got it wrong on a number of levels – from the process that I led to the decision that I reached. But now I will get it right. We will get our house in order first,” he said in reference to the Ray Rice domestic violence video that surfaced after the NFL let him keep playing.

“We need to do better,” Roger added, and announced that the NFL will require everyone to participate in domestic violence and sexual assault education.

Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson and Carolina Panthers’ Greg Hardy are two other current exempt players in trouble with the law, as well as Arizona Cardinals’ Jonathan Dwyer.
