'Gone Girl' Movie Ending Remains Unchanged, Critics Confirm

While initial reports said the ending for the moving Gone Girl would be different than the book, the first reviews from critics confirm that the ending has gone unchanged.

Ben [Affleck] was so shocked by it,” author Gillian Flynn previously told EW of the screenplay she wrote. “He would say, ‘This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch.’”

Well, looks like Gillian was either trying to throw us for a loop or a different screenplay was used!

“Despite published reports that major plot changes were being made, particularly in the third act, this simply isn’t true; it’s an extremely faithful adaptation of what is ultimately a withering critique of the dynamics of marriage,” THR film critic Todd McCarthy wrote in his review.

Critics for Variety and The New York Times also said the movie is extremely faithful to the book. We sure can’t wait to see it!

Um, can you kindly not discuss the “ending” of the movie for those of us who have yet to read the book. Now I know to be prepared for something less satisfactory. Thanks a lot, Jared. SMDH.
