Miles Teller Explains His Negative 'Divergent' Comments

Miles Teller is speaking out after his comments about the Divergent franchise have gone wide.

Here is what the 27-year-old actor previously said: “When I first read Whiplash, I was feeling dead inside. I didn’t have an interesting part [in Divergent], and I’d taken the film for business reasons: It was the first movie I’d done that was going to have an international audience. I called my agent and said, ‘This sucks.’ He told me about Whiplash.”

Opening up to the Los Angeles Times, Miles said that he was referring to playing a villain, working with frequent co-star Shailene Woodley again, and acting in a blockbuster film that would be seen around the world.

“Those were the ‘business reasons’ which every actor weighs; it’s not just the size of the part,” Miles said. “And if I said ‘dead inside,’ I meant just burnt out and fatigued from doing my first big-budget lengthy shoot and four months was a long time and I just wanted to relax afterwards.”

Oh Please, damage control at its finest. Don’t ever bite the hand the feeds you. He’s not even that good of an actor. Didn’t he just finish shooting the new Fantastic Four reboot? I don’t know about him, but I would definitely pick a movie like Divergent which was critically acclaimed (both book and movie) than go for Jessica Alba’s shity leftovers. Just sayin’

i like him as an actor, i think Spectacular Now was good, and im really excited for Wiplash. But he has not got the oscar nomination yet to believe he is soo superior for Divergent…
trashing the role he take is not good, and dont even like Divergent.
but it makes me like him less as a person, and question his acting choices… like he is mr fantastic in the new fantastic four. did he take that one just for the money and publicity…
i get that the business, but at least dont trash the movie or role you get…
im guessing he is not gonna be a part of the Insurgent promotion.

Every time he opens his mouth, he sounds more and more like a tool. He has neither the star power or acting ability to even lead a movie on his own, let alone be at a point in his career where he picks and choose roles.

Be careful! You could be the new Shia Laboeuf! Don’t talk badly on th hand who feeds you

Damn. Shailene Woodley can actually clobber you in a box office race. He really shouldn’t be saying bad things about his choices. Those were his. He ahould’ve thought about that. And, hello, I’m sure Fantstic Four was also chosen for “business purposes” as well. Does he really think a reboot can make him an Oscar-wannabe? Duh.
