Cate recently gave an inspiring speech while accepting an honorary doctorate degree at Macquarie University in Sydney. Watch the video below!

“The arts are what we stay alive for, what we work for all week, what we dream about, what connects us and indeed, what some will say makes us human. Within this broad church is housed a myriad of professions — professions which some of you will participate in, help change, shape and evolve and I’d like to say today that it is the arts that have always been the driver of innovation and exploration,” Cate shared.

She added, “A culture that supports change, adaptation and experimentation is the only way that a scientist can find the mental space to explore and innovate. So remember when someone asks: ‘what the hell can you do with an arts degree?’, ask them ‘what can the world do without one?”

“Australia” is an illegal and inhumane occupation, as the entire world knows, so, so much for this speech when you don’t buy your own junk.

Cate–homely and Boring. If Australia is so wonderful, why do they all come to the U.S.to make all of their money. They take jobs away from American actors.

@THE WAY IT IS: seriously… what the hell are you on about?!haha

  • Nomansland

@Audra: yep! Why live in a more relaxed atmosphere with incredible beaches, better pay and great health system when you can live in the USofA with its low wages and horrible health system. Super appealing!

  • THE WAY IT IS

@Pft: Exactly as is written, troll, THAT’S WHAT!! 8O

  • oh the humanity

@Audra: ignorant comment made by an ignorant person. They could be better actors or it could be that the US has bigger worldwide influence over the small isle that is Oz.

    So elegant and beautiful

She is indeed homely and boring, and not nearly as talented as she believes she is. Pandering to the ordinary mainstream. Yuck!
