Feminist Taylor Swift Praises Emma Watson On UN Speech

Taylor Swift has nothing, but wonderful things to say about Emma Watson‘s recent UN speech on feminism and gender inequality!

“I wish when I was 12 years old, I had been able to watch a video of my favorite actress explaining in such an intellectual, beautiful poignant way the definition of feminism,” the 24-year-old singer shared during an appearance on French Canadian television show Tout le Monde en Parle on Sunday (September 28). “Because I would have understood it and then earlier on in my life I would have proudly claimed that I was a feminist.”

Taylor added, “I just think that a lot of girls don’t know the definition and the fact that Emma got up and explained it, I think it’s an incredible thing and I am happy to live in a world where that happened.” Watch the video below!

Who knew , she’s as a smart and polite has you would think her image seemed , I can’t wait for the album release .

  • idontbelieveyou

    whatever..

  • Becky

@idontbelieveyou: It’s people like you who help keep women in their place by tearing them down, rather than lift them up. I think all women trying to make a change need support.

  • Oprah

    ‘feminist’ taylor swift. that’s rich

  • Stan

Sorry, Swift, but feminism IS equated with shrill, man-hating extremists. Blame those man-hating extremists for co-opting the movement and poisoning it for normal people.

  • Sophia

Let me remind you, Taylor once wrote an entire song just to put another girl down, calling her names and basically calling her a ho, just because she “stoled” Taylor’s boyfriend. Taylor is not a feminist.

  • Sophia

    *stole

    sorry.

  • B

@Sophia: Yeah, how about blaming the people who continuously harp on feminists as being man hating dykes. Feminists aren’t destroying the movement or the group, people with bad misconceptions get on the air or media and force the subject.

    .

Feminism is the equality of sexes. It’s kind of sad when people can’t figure this out or educate themselves on it. Guess what Taylor, I was 12 years old when I didn’t understand things, I looked it up and educated myself about it. And that was prior to the internet. It’s always sad when people claim ignorance with so much information available at the speed of light that’s accessible in the palm of your hand.

    .

Emma’s speech was awesome, but how about we stop expecting others to our homework for us. Do it yourself.

dxcept that isn’t what happens. It’s anti-feminists who harp on a sin

  • dude

@Sophia: In a recent interview in the British magazine the Guardian,Taylor talked about her song where a girl “stoled” her boyfriend. She said she regrets writing the song when she was 17 and in the last 7 years she has learned that she was wrong in thinking anyone can steal your boyfriend.

  • dude

@B: its a disgrace when a supposed “feminist” mocks a woman for discovering modern feminism in a different way and at an age you you deem to old. You basically called her stupid for not discovering feminism by the age of 12. Your a hypocrite!

  • Sophia

@dude: Oh really? References please? I would like to read that.

  • Sophia

@dude: I’m curious, in what part of B’s comment did she “mock” her for “discovering feminism in a different way”? She has a point, there is so much information out now, so if you are not inform, it’s because you don’t want to or you simply don’t care. And this issue is something that young girls should care about.

  • dude

@Sophia: Google…the Guardian Taylor Swift.. its the article called…Sexy? Not on my radar. Taylor addresses her song “better then revenge”……Taylor discovered feminism at 24 and “B” basicly called another woman stupid for not discovering feminism at 12 on her own like she did. One of the most high profile stars in the world comes out saying she learned that feminism is just wanting equal rights and opportunities for both WOMEN and men. And instead of realizing how much Taylors endorsment could help more people unersand.modern ideas of feminism. A so called feminist makes fun of her not being smart and discoving it by her self. Calling your self a feminist by mocking a woman’s intelligence….HYPOCRITE!

  • Thetruth

You’re a idiot! Clearly you don’t know what the word feminist mean because Taylor swift isn’t one. She a cry baby loser who crys about everything oh woah as me Tina Fey made fun of me. This has got to be the most stupist thing you every said Jared

  • hey

She wrote “better than revenge” against a girl , we all know that, if she really understood her mistake here she should apologized then!!
But she clearly didn’t understand “feminism”, as she says i want women to “stop tearing each other down” , then excuse me dear idiot she made an entire article in Rolling stones magazine about her song called “bad bloods” in which she disses and of course tear down a pop singer who happens to be a WOMAN!!! She clearly doesn’t know what the word FEMINISM is!! Emma watson (who’s clever and t swift will never reached her level of maturity, even in her biggest dreams) understood it! Swift is just again making a fool of herself!!!!

  • Monica

@Thetruth: You obviously know NOTHING about her so feel free to shove your opinion up yours.

  • yrur

I guess calling yourself a feminist is the new “in” thing lol

  • Jack

    @Thetruth:
Really. I am sure Taylor is no Cry Baby! She really doesn’t care and is care-free to boot; but it sounds like your comment is showing you to be the cry baby.

  • Ana

She herself stated she wasn’t a feminist when she was interviewed for her last album. She does anything for PR. Her last album “image” was “the poor soulful girl who always gets dumped but still wistfully yearns for love”. I see this album she and her team are going for ” Single, independent girl, who doesn’t need a man to complete her and has fun living her life”. She’s basically riding on the coattails of others to shed her obsessive, spurned girlfriend persona.
