Tracy Morgan has responded to Walmart after the company said he should have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of his car accident earlier this summer.

“After I heard what Walmart said in court I felt I had to speak out. I can’t believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident that they caused. My friends and I were doing nothing wrong. I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I’m fighting hard every day to get back,” the 45-year-old 30 Rock actor said in a statement to

Tracy was involved in the six-car accident that killed his friend, comedian James McNair and left him in very bad health.

  • Hey!

Gotta agree with him. He was in the backseat. Most adults don’t wear seatbelts in the back seat. The law says they don’t have to. Anyway, how does his wear one or not have anything to do with the crash? Walmarts driver hit them, thats all there is to it. End of story.

  • ugh

@Hey!: and it’s funny cause walmart is worth BILLION$$$$ and they still don’t want to own up to this tragic fault. makes Walmart look beyond pathetic and stingy. Hope Tracy is healing progressively and R.I.P. To his good friend james. Sad story all around

  • ew

I agree totally with poor Tracy. How is it his fault when the guy (truck driver) fell asleep. it is all on Walmart not TM, period!

  • Wow

They’re not blaming him but the extent of his injuries would be less if he’d been wearing a seat belt as we all know. If a car hits a cyclist and they’re not wearing a helmet it’s still the cars fault but your personal injuries would again be less had you worn a helmet as the law suggests youndo. Common sense.

  • Lol

@Wow: I’m pretty sure he’d have the same injuries with the seat belt too, seat belts don’t help when you get crashed from the back, you get more protection if you are hit from the front of your car.
