Gwyneth Paltrow Responds to Martha Stewart's Diss with Glee!

Gwyneth Paltrow is responding to the diss that Martha Stewart made about her and she couldn’t seem more happy to have heard the words from the lifestyle queen.

When talking about the actress’ company Goop, Martha reportedly said, “She just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”

Gwyneth was interviewed at Fortune‘s Most Powerful Women Summit on Tuesday (October 7) and joked that “No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I’m shocked and devastated. I’ll try to recover.”

“If I’m really honest, I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition. I really am,” she added.

Gwyneth announced this week that Goop hired a new CEO – Lisa Gersh, the former CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Watch the video below to hear her talk about the new executive working for her company!

    Martha is a legend. Gwyneth is a desperate wannabe.

  • Katie L.

    Gwynnie is mad about Martha’s comments. That is why she hired Martha’s former CEO. Gwynnie is a useless brat and nobody like or respects her. Martha is so talented and well liked.

  • Billy

    Gwynnie is right on not backing down on Martha’s out of touch comments regarding telling other women what they should or shouldn’t do. There must be a reason Lisa Gersh did not want to stay with Martha Steward’s company. Gwyneth has already had a successful career as an actress, Martha completely bombed as a stock broker.

  • Farrah

    Gwyneth, STFU and don’t flatter yourself. Sit your bland, condescending, self righteous, pretentious, goop-y a.s.s. down. You’re about as special as a potato in Idaho–not very.

    Ugh. It’s like she tries to out-annoy herself. She hasn’t been relevant since her characters head was shipped to Brad Pitt in a box in the movie “Seven”.

  • Kass

    Don’t like her AT ALL !

  • astro

    Why is she at a most powerful women summit?
    Goop loses money.

  • lol

    Martha is just a bitter hag! She’s not the lord of the manor that determines what path women should choose.
    Just cause she’s a convict does not mean people should fear her

  • sarah

    Theres a reason why so many people hate Gwyneth. She is so annoying and pretentious.
    GO AWAY!

  • Lucy

    I like her, she is a badass for not backing down and not giving a sh*t about what Steward (and the stupid haters) says.

  • Looselipz

    I love Martha for being the voice of many regarding disdain for Paltrow.
    Goop is a boring beige bunch of crap.

  • donnie

    No wonder why martha’s husband left her, she’s so bitter.

  • Ladyb

    I agree that Martha is barking the wrong tree and by dissing Gwyneth, she gives her site more credibility. However, what planet does Gwyneth lives on – no one has said anything bad about me. Really? Even the idea of this goop. A woman came forward and dissed her cause she used her idea and ran it alone. She came to Gwynnie to start this goop business together she acted snobbish and disinterested as she listen to her, then next thing you know, Gwyneth was launching it without her

  • Temple

    @astro: If she had just not paid herself that big salary that she did not need, her site might have had a chance at being profitable.

  • Vero

    @Shame:
    Yet, the legend is the one insulting the wannabe?

  • Vero

    @Katie L.:
    It’s the other way around, Martha lashed out at Gwyneth b/c she found out Gwyneth had hired her ex CEO. They met in June though she’s just announcing it now.

  • Vero

    @Farrah:
    Yet, she’s the one being invited at Fortune while you sit her and insult her on a gossip website.

  • Awkward

    @Vero: Um, you’re also sitting on a gossip site insulting those who insult her. So, yeah….

  • Vero

    @astro:
    Maybe you should question your business knowledge. Do you know how many Fortune 500 close quarters with a negative balance sheet. It doesn’t necessarily mean they are losing money or they aren’t growing. goop is an upstart company that posted $40K loss on $1million revenue. In the world of business, $40K is nothing. Gersh sees a huge potential for growth or she wouldn’t have come aboard.

  • Pop

    No idea why they invited her to this thing since Goop is in the red but they also invitedd that rip-off artist Tracey Anderson.

  • Vero

    @sarah:
    Perhaps there’s a life outside of these gossip websites? You should get out more!

  • Vero

    @Ladyb:
    I guess you’re not into sarcasm at all since her comment went way over your head.

  • Vartan

    These coventions should be for real entrepreneurs not for celebrities running vanity lifestyle blogs.

  • Vero

    @Awkward:
    Nope. Didn’t insult anyone

  • CH

    @Vero: She has plenty of money. She didn’t need to pay herself hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not good business sense for a start-up.

  • Who?????????????

    Who????

  • Awkward

    @Vero: Perhaps there is. You should try it. Start by taking your own advice. BTW, it’s really hard to take you seriously when you insult people, insinuate they’re losers who should get a life when you’re here…yourself…insulting people…over a celebrity who doesn’t even know your name let alone your existence…like a loser…with no life…
    Not a very good look on ya.

  • Awkward

    @Vero: Oh wow. Not only are you a loser with no life (with a sick obsession for goopies goop), but you’re completely oblivious to the fact that you’re a hypocritical loser with no life. Thanks for the morning chuckles. At least you were good for something…for 5 seconds–your maximum climax.

  • Vero

    @CH:
    That’s where you’re wrong. Not bad for taxes filing at all.

  • Vero

    @Awkward:
    I’m an entrepreneur working from a comfort of my own home. Go on insulting Paltrow & me if that makes you feel better about your own life.

  • Lola

    If she wants to evade taxes, then she should just go back to England. We have enough multi-million dollar corps here trying to fake loses and con workers.

  • Billy

    She just wasn’t only invited by Fortune but also to the Code Conference along with the CEO’s of Google, Uber, Netflix, Twitter and others. She’ll host a fundraising dinner for Obama at her house in LA this weekend.
    Her distracters start looking like a sad joke.

  • Vero

    @Lola:
    Funny you should say that. The books that show her claiming $40K loss were actually from her business filing in UK in 2012. goop moved to the US in 2013.

  • Vero

    @Billy:
    Don’t let the facts distract these people in their belief that this accomplished and very successful woman is actually a loser.

  • Bore

    Gwyneth Paltrow is a silly, uncultured wannabe. She needs to read more books and spend less time congratulating herself on being a “26 year old with an Oscar.” And she’s as plain as cardboard. How that woman ever got called beautiful is beyond me.

  • Bore

    And Sheryl Sandberg is also a big bore. I agree with what Martha said about leaning in. Two of the biggest wannabes.

  • Bore

    I think GOOP, by attending all these tech/biz conferences, is actually trying to restore her cred. Hilarious.

  • CleoD

    @Bore:
    .
    Excellent point…it’s the M.O. of her PR flack Stephen Huvane to try and give his flighty stupid lame hollywood clients a gravitas they don’t have:
    .
    It’s why he got a slot for Jennifer Aniston the tv shitcom hack known for a busted marriage to a movie star 10 yrs ago, bad nose jobs, wearing see thru tshirts and bad hairdos in the 90s, who now plays desperate aging strippers in bad rom coms, interviewing Gloria Steinem at some pop up conference…for instance.
    .
    Now he’s had Gwyneth Paltrow, another lame with no reported business success only reported business failures ‘speaking’ at tech and business conferences.
    .
    Next he’ll have Chelsea Handler, another cow in his stable, speaking at a banking and finance summit…or trying to work with the council on foreign relations.
    .
    It’s pretty hilarious to see that same PR paw print on these women who don’t do anything really worthwhile…but he sure wants you to think they’re “serious.”

    @Vero: Okay, just saw the video- she was being sarcastic. I didn’t know that. I just read Just Jared’s piece which did not mention “she responded sarcastically”…So yes, her comment went over my head. Psss…

  • Well said

    Well said, Gwyneth! She is so classy.
    @lol: “Just cause she’s a convict does not mean people should fear her.” LOL!

  • Friday

    I don’t get the Paltrow invite either considering Goop bleeds money despite making only 1.5 mill/year. Was Jessica Alba busy? She actually has a successful start-up company that employs over 200 people and brings in 150 mill + revenue/year.

  • Sabine

    @Ladyb:

    I think she was being sarcastic…

  • plenty

    @Friday: Good point. Maybe Alba doesn’t have a BFF on the selection committee? G.P.’s buddy Julie de Baubigny, whom she profiled in Goop, invited her to that recent Code Conference.

  • TheEgoOfGP

    Gwyneth is an arrogant woman. Martha Stewart dished her for her loud mouth and she had the nerve to say she was “competition” for Martha. Martha Stewart is the real deal when it comes to OCD domesticate divas. GP just dabbles and talks. A person of character would be honored that someone like MS would even noticed her and just be sad or say I hope to improve but can’t please everyone..GP has no friends and it is obvious why.

  • TheEgoOfGP

    So what she hired MS ex CEO! Gwyneth will probably put out some nice stuff eventually. But she will be lonely. Jay Z and Beyoncé never wanted her around. Madonna ran. So did her husband. GP is pretentious and full of herself. On her reaction to flowering zucchini
    “When I pass a flowering zucchini plant in a garden, my heart skips a beat.”

    Sure. This is not believable.

  • TheEgoOfGP

    When She Dissed the Met Gala, do you really think designers want to piss off Anna Wintour who purposely put Jen Lawerence as the queen this year.
    She is a pretentious fool. Unfortunately, fools still make money because they have little else.

  • TheEgoOfGP

    How about this one? ” I Am Who I Am. I Can’t Pretend to Be Somebody Who Makes $25,000 a Year”
    Who thinks she is doing what she loves enough for us to want to help her salary?

  • TheEgoOfGP

    @Vero: do not underestimate the power of the bad raps. Kathleen Battle, a top opera gained a reputation for being “difficult”. The numerous complaints lead to her being fired from the New York Metropolitan Opera.

    Gwyneth is obviously not relatable and she should shut up. But she wants the limelight.

  • Charlie Chaplin

    @TheEgoOfGP: she should not be the spokesperson for the brand. The name is lousy also. You see only Gwyn and her sickness!

  • No Doubt

    @Friday: Thanks! That is very interesting. Gwyneth seems to be benefiting from friendship nepotism over more successful celebrity entrepreneurs.
