'Gone Girl' Stays Strong at No. 1 for Second Weekend Box Office

Gone Girl has topped the weekend box office for a second time with $26.8 million earned!

According to THR, the highly-anticipated thriller starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, is on its way to becoming director David Fincher‘s top-grossing film in North America.

In second place was Dracula Untold, starring Luke Evans and Sarah Gadon, which impressed with a $23.5 million take nationally and earning another $33.9 million overseas.

Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day came in at No. 3 with a respectable $19.1 million for the Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner-led flick.

Rounding out the top five were Annabelle and the new courtroom dramedy The Judge, which brought in $16.4 million and $13.3 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, the new thriller Addicted did well with $7.6 million from 846 theaters and Jeremy Renner‘s Kill the Messenger opened to an estimated $1 million weekend from 374 theaters.

St. Vincent, starring Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, and Naomi Watts, opened strong, grossing $121,056 from only four theaters, while Miles Teller‘s Whiplash brought in $143,503 from six theaters for a location average of $23,917.
