Evan Rachel Wood 'Felt Like Meat' During 'Vanity Fair' Young Hollywood Shoot in 2003

Evan Rachel Wood is speaking out to shed light on the experience of shooting Vanity Fair‘s Young Hollywood issue back in 2003.

The now 27-year-old actress was pictured alongside Amanda Bynes, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen, Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff, Alexis Bledel, Raven-Symone, and Lindsay Lohan for the now iconic shoot.

After a fan tweeted the photo of the magazine cover on Thursday (October 16), Evan shared her thoughts on the shoot.

“I was almost in tears after this shoot. They tried that dress on me, I wasnt comfortable but they told me there was no time,” Evan said.

People who tweet multiple times to make a paragraph sound stupid.

  • Vero

I remember this photoshoot. The Olsen twins were beautiful back then…

  • Ally

Bullied?! Is she serious? Hashtag never forget, like it’s some kind of catastrophe (lest we forget is used in relation to World War I and Remembrance Day). It is the job of stylists on such shoots to dress the girls and not the job of 15 year olds to whine back. You would think it would have been an honour to cover Vanity Fair and she complains about it like it was some kind of ordeal because she was handed flats?! Talk about ungrateful and am overinflated sense of her importance. Get over yourself, girl.

  • Seriously

Boo Hoo – seriously?? She’s on the cover of a major magazine and she is complaining? Did she see her own movie – Thirteen?!? Was she uncomfortable then? Actors can be so whiney…their job is to ENTERTAIN – they are puppets…get over yourself and go cry in your $10 green juice while you drive your $100,000 car on your way to the Gucci store to pick up your free dress and shoes for the party they are throwing for YOU tonight. Ugh!

  • sid

I like Evan for the most part, but this whinning is so unnecesary and makes her sound like a brat. Writing a whole paragraph about the struggle that it was wearing heels and a dress for a photoshoot? girl bye, count your blessings.

  • MrsJaxTeller

that’s an iconic photo shoot? has been washed up b list marginally talented brats.

  • kapoosa

That’s it? Flats instead of heels? Dress wasn’t cute? She’s an idiot.

  • happy666

I don’t know who Evan Rachel is from those two brunettes but she should stop comparing herself to other girls who she thinks they are/looked prettier. Wtf? Are you serious? Are you really grown up? Why do you still feel ugly?

  • Moes23

IKR. It’s like there was a hex on that shoot

  • Michele V

The Olsens have done pretty well for themselves.

  • mouth

I wish she would have spoken up. I am so tired of women going naked while men are ALWAYS fully clothed. What happened to our human rights?

  • Jack Mack

A lot of crazies on that cover!!!!

  • MrsJaxTeller

Not as actresses which is what the cover was about. They are not starlets and never were.

  • THE JOKER

From right to left : drug addict, lesbian, nothing, hitwoman, hitwoman, hitwoman, hitwoman, hitwoman, psychopath

  • naliels

This is the same girl who broke up a 40 something year old married mans relationship when she was only 18 or 19. She is nothing but a little spoiled girl with hasn’t seemed to mature either. She was on the cover of a magazine with more famous people at the time. She should be grateful about how it boosted her image. And she was bullied? You don’t get to choose what clothing or shoes you wear when you do a photo-shoot. Not unless you are a big celeb but she was and sill is not a big celeb.
And how about she dumped the guy she had a kid with because she found him ‘boring’? She is in some loser-lesbian relationship now.

  • PROPHET TEN

Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff, The Olsens and Alexis Bledel did very well at the time. Half of them have since gotten married. Hilary had a kid. Alexis has been doing great indy films lately. The other girls, however, may have turned out weird.

  • Marianne

Part of me does think she’s being a little whiny like this is the worst experience she’s ever had in life when probably its not, but actors should feel comfortable in what they’re wearing/posing etc. It’s their body and their image afterall. If there wasn’t time to change, then maybe there should have been a stylist for each girl.

  • Marianne

Its because there is a character limit on twitter.

  • susan

oh wow… i always thought it was Jojo lol..

  • Scarlett

But come on. It’s not like VF knew what was coming for any of them. At the time, the really were the faces of the new generation of Hollywood. No one knew that Lindsay was going to go the way she did or the Olsens would end up excelling in fashion instead.
At the time, I have no doubt Evan felt uncomfortable but I do think talking about it now, what 10 years later, is a bit unnessesry.

  • Vy Nguyen

Bullied because she had to wear a dress and heels. OMG cry me a river!!
