Katie Holmes Shares Beauty Tips She'll Pass to Daughter Suri

Katie Holmes looks beautiful on the red carpet while attending the Skin Cancer Foundation Gala on Tuesday evening (October 21) at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City.

Also in attendance at the event was Sting, whose new Broadway musical The Last Ship will open on Broadway this month!

Katie recently shared with Us Weekly the beauty lessons that she plans on passing along to her daughter Suri.

“To be beautiful, and to take the time to be who you are,” Katie said. “That’s so valuable, because we’re all running around trying very hard.”

Bless her heart she is still trying to make it.
Her last “movie” was an embarrassment.

  • olivia123

I’ve seen enough candids of her to know better. Made up here she looks pretty good but candids without inch of make up not so much. Like these here tell a more accurate story http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2789503/my-little-fashionista-suri-cruise-outshines-casual-mother-katie-holmes-pretty-summer-dress-trip-farmer-s-market.html

Olivia makeup or no makeup i would take Katie Holmes over any other actress in Hollywood she’s just Hot. :)

lol you always show up with the goods. I noticed a few threads posted here tonight of more Hollywood events with A listers and it made me wonder if she misses being invited to those events . Despite the smiles she has to put on for the camera here I bet it’s definitely work.

  • Caryn Carrington

Who did her make up? She looks like Morticia from the Addams Family.

  • Just a Comment

    - This is a tough industry and so competitive. Katie has to keep on pressing forward and appearing at events to keep herself in the celebrity blogs. She looks pretty here but not outstanding. It is exhausting to fly from Los Angeles to New York and then back to Los Angeles. No matter how many times I fly over there and then back it takes me a moment to recover. But she doesn’t have a nine to five job with an accounting firm so she can sleep late or at different hours. But her base now is Los Angeles. Good luck to her and Suri.

  • Sincerely Concerned

I could so see her as a supporting actor in a sequel to Gone Girl. The neighbor who stumbles her way through killing off Amy by playing herself.

She probably had to agree to it as part of her big push campaign for her “Let’s make Katie Holmes happen” attempt with HW and company. They are going to pull out all the stops. Not seeing it working though. She will get a good days worth of positive blogs probably since she pulled herself together but she needs to show she can act and in something people actually see or it’s all just “oh look Tom’s ex and Suri’s mom cleaned up real well”.

She makes me think of Linda Carter

  • Not Today

I just checked around and was surprised to find no US blogs aside from JJ ran with her pictures from last night. At least the larger ones. Even some like “Go Fug Yourself” will feature her when she scrubs up but nothing. I admit I am very curious now to see how Miss Meadows pans out since that is her last big hurrah for the year. Will it go over like a lead balloon?

  • Caryn Carrington

The reality is whether you like Holmes or not–she will be 36 in December and that is considered almost senior citizen in Hollywood. Almost every A list actress has commented in some form or another about parts drying up as they rapidly approach 40. Holmes was responsible for sabotaging her own career by getting fired from Batman 2 (and I don’t believe for a minute that she decided not to return) and then continued to deep six it during her marriage to Tom Cruise. She has a knack for picking roles that go nowhere and films that tank. Based on the moves she has made (getting a new talent agency/management etc., taking on more viable projects and not always looking like a bag lady when she goes out etc) I have to believe she wants a long career with good solid roles and critical acclaim for them. Nothing wrong with that. BUT she is starting her “new you” campaign at an age when many actresses start losing roles to younger actors and roles start drying up for the near and over 40 actresses. It will be interesting to see where she goes from here as in Hollywood as you age, unless you have talent and/or A list recognition (Streep, Mirran, Jolie, Kidman, Roberts etc) you have no where to go but down.

  • NG

I agree about her age. Reese Witherspoon wanted role of Gone Girl but director David Fincher did not want her and instead Reese is one of the producers and Reese is Academy Award winner and 38. But Rosamund Pike was perfect choice.

  • NG

Glad that Leslie (publicist) and Adam(her agent) are earning their percentage. If Katie don’t work they don’t get paid. Maybe that’s why its hard for Katie to pick which are good parts and which to pass on.

  • BellaLou

She will be 36 by end of the year. I do think she looked pretty good in these latest pictures (although way too much make up) that is not the norm. Most times she looks to be aging badly (imo). I think Katie does have a small fanbase but not enough to carry a movie and on screen she just isn’t “sexy”. (Nathan will disagree but he is not in the majority) Again, she looked ok in these last pictures but speaking and acting does not convey well. Rosamund is 35, Keri Russel (mentioned here before ) is 38, Rachel Weisz is 44 (but does not look it at all). Michelle Monaghan is 38. Not the best actress but getting a lot of attention now. Marion Cotilard is 39. Just naming some in her age range that might get that call first when you need a brunette

  • paula

She looks great here. Nice outfit. Good work and well done to the styling team. I saw another article about her beauty tips for women on the go and laughed out loud. I think her Alterna and Olay teams should really give second thought to what is going on there. Not everyone is well suited for brand ambassadorship. Her representation has ruined my ability to buy certain things.

  • American

She’s been unlucky lately and her leaving Batman 2 (you don’t know that she was fired) but she still has plenty of time. Careers for women have stretched out past the 40 mark in the past decade.

I doubt she will ever become a big A-lister though-but she doesn’t need to.

You should support her rather than trying to find ways to knock her down.

  • Nathan

BellaLou: I think Katie will be able to get jobs in hollywood as long as she wants to be an actress. Her name is already written in stone as A-list just like Angelina Jolie or Cate Blanchett. Plus Katie is gonna try directing and who knows she could be great at it. I think Katie is just getting started, she only 35, she’s super talented and she’s still as beautiful as ever. :)

  • BellaLou

Sorry Nathan but you are deceiving yourself if you think she is viewed as being the same league as Angie or Cate. If she is able to get jobs in Hollywood “as long as she wants to” as you suggest then why isn’t she in demand now? A “job” vs a good role is not the same either. It will only get worse as time goes on . I know you like her but she is not viewed that way by others or she would be doing so much more and she isn’t “only getting started” at 35 having been in the business for 18 years.

  • Caryn Carrington

Well I don’t care for her acting, but that has nothing to do with the age discrimination for actresses in Hollywood. And yes she was fired. That is what first came out and then Tom’s PR team went into motion and all of a sudden she had dropped out of the film. Everyone was back pedalling trying to appease Tom because at the time he was the most powerful actor around. But the couch jumping, Shields attack, Lauer attack etc. and his defense of Xenu certainly had him dropping fast. Katie doesn’t need to be an a-lister to get parts, but she does need to act in something that actually makes money.
