Amanda Bynes' Parents Will Surrender Conservatorship to Mental Health Professional

Amanda Bynes‘ parents Rick and Lynn plan on surrendering their roles as the conservator to their daughter, according to TMZ.

The parents of the troubled actress will ask the judge to transfer the conservatorship to a “mental health professional who specializes in handling people with severe mental illnesses.”

Another person will be granted the power over Amanda‘s financial matters.

After the conservatorship details are worked out, Rick and Lynn plan on moving to Texas to be near their older daughter. They believe that they don’t have what it takes to control Amanda and hope that if someone else has power over her finances that they can have a relationship with their daughter.

Finally! If they would have accepted that she sick in the first place she wouldn’t have made a fool out of herself in front of the whole world. Other celebs deal with mental illness too but not like this. It’s not her fault that she’s ill but it’s her parents fault for not catching her fall. Your family is supposed to be your safety net.

  • Melanie Merle

She never made up her dad abusing her. 1 in a hundred children cope as adults when abused as children. They’re a travesty. I wish her luck.

  • Revengefan0101

I don’t get her parents; it seems like they don’t care about her at all. Why not ask Britney Spears’ father for advice instead?

  • Legendary Trolly

Exactly! I felt that she IS crazy, and hypothetically if she was abused, no one would believe her. I still think its possible he touched her.

Boy aren’t you the know it all! Wow! You and those who upped you have no clue about what you’re talking/agreeing about. The internet is your friend, use it to find out a bit more before casting judgments about people and a situation you only know about from TMZ and JJ’s.

I see we have a herd of armchair specialists here whose only credentials are from TMZ University. Its rather sickening how you’ve decided Amanda’s problems all stem from her parents. Btw, I’m speaking from an up close and personal POV via a family member right now who mirrors Amanda accept financially. This family member wasn’t molested or anything else her parents or anyone else did and showed signs as far back as 4 and 5 years old of issues. Learn something about mental illness before assigning blame as if people just all of a sudden become schizophrenic and bi-polar. It’s insulting how some of you care more about stating opinion based on ignorance instead of doing even a little research before writing whatever the hell you think.

Bipolar runs in my family. I can tell you right now just throwing your hands up in the air when your child is mentally ill and needs you is unwise. If anybody’s getting comfortable in their armchair, it’s you mm366.

I don’t read tmz, and i have studied psychology so i think i know a little about it. I feel sorry for her she always seemed like a genuinely good person so i wish she had gotten help sooner. That is the point i was trying to make. I don’t know what your point is. Besides your on JJ commenting seems like the internet is your friend too.

They refused to accept she was ill or that she smoked pot. When asked they kept saying they don’t know, she’s an adult, it’s her business. I never said they abused her. I just said i wish they would have been a little closer so she had someone to lean on. By the way i do know a little about mental illness but i’m glad you got that out. Again tmz ? …lol

  • Molly1958

That’s probably a wise decision. She will be more willing to listen to a professional therapist than she would her parents.

  • Deanne

I can’t say as I blame them. I feel so sad for Amanda and her parents. I just hope the people who have the conservatorship will keep her best interests in mind.

  • Deanne

I’m not sure it’s that they don’t care about her. They’re older than some parents of a person Amanda’s age and perhaps they honestly feel they can’t handle this.
And while Britney was in a huge downward spiral and definitely did (and probably still does) have mental issues, I don’t think she and Amanda have the same issues.
I hope Amanda gets the help she needs. This is such a sad situation.

But why is it our business to know? It IS her business and maybe just maybe her parents have/had a right to not divulge what they known, suspected or had no clue about. We’re on the outside viewing in through a freaking fishbowl and deciding that all her issues are parental related when a simple looksee about the illness will explain more accurately than Us Weekly, TMZ and the rest.

Might I suggest that the Bynes family hire a “Private Judge” who specializes in resolutions. Judicate West or JAMS are a great source of educated trial lawyers who act as Private Judges to facilitate in resolutions. Our judicial/court system is inadequate on so many levels. If you have the money to hire a professional this is the way to go. It is sealed and private as I would assume is one of the priorities here. Best of luck to the Bynes Family.

I feel so bad for her parents.
