‘Maleficent’ Captures Top Spot on Home Video Sales Charts, Unseats ‘X-Men’
Three new releases and an extended edition of a recent hit captured the top four spots on the national home video sales charts for the week ending Nov. 9, ending the three-week reign of 20th Century Fox’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” as the country’s top-selling disc.

“X-Men” finished the week at No. 5, ceding the No. 1 spot on both Nielsen VideoScan sales charts to Walt Disney Studios’ newly released “Maleficent,” the live-action powerhouse ($241.3 million box office) that stars Angelina Jolie as the notorious villain from Disney’s 1959 animated classic, “Sleeping Beauty.”

Paramount’s live-action retelling of the “Hercules” legend, with Dwayne Johnson in the title role, debuted at No. 2 on both the First Alert chart, which tracks combined Blu-ray Disc and DVD sales, and the Blu-ray Disc-only chart.

A third new release, Walt Disney’s animated sequel “Planes: Fire & Rescue,” bowed at No. 3 on both charts, while an extended edition of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” from Warner, captured the No. 4 spot.

This is the first time in recent memory that the top five on both sales charts are identical.

Nielsen data shows that of the four top-selling new releases, “The Hobbit” fared best on Blu-ray Disc, with the high-definition disc version accounting for 75% of total unit sales. But the three other films also generated the majority of their sales from Blu-ray – 54% for “Maleficent” and 53% each for “Hercules” and “Planes” – while in its fourth week of release “X-Men” generated 56% of its total unit sales from Blu-ray Disc.

Again, this is the first time that all five top sellers sold more copies on Blu-ray Disc than they did on standard DVD.

On Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the week, Warner’s “Edge of Tomorrow” vaulted to the top of the charts now that its 28-day holdback from Netflix and Redbox is over. Paramount’s “Hercules” – not subject to any such delay – debuted at No. 2, while “A Million Ways to Die in the West,” from Universal Studios (which also holds back new releases from the two key rental channels for a month) finished the week at No. 3.

Rounding out the top five were the previous week’s top rental, Universal Studios’ “Neighbors,” at No. 4 and Walt Disney Studios’ “Maleficent” bowing at No. 5.

MORE PHOTOS:No Fury here! Brad Pitt happily takes selfies with his fans as he walks the red carpet at Seoul premiere

Brad Pitt might just be one of the nicest stars in Hollywood.

The handsome 50-year-old actor walked the red carpet at the premiere for his new movie Fury in Seoul, South Korea on Thursday, and was happy to pose for pictures with his fans.

Posing in front of hundreds of devoted movie lovers at the premiere, the husband of Angelina Jolie cut a dapper figure in his three-piece suit.

However, he added a casual vibe to his tailored look by opting to wear a t-shirt under his waistcoat and jacket, rather than a button-down shirt.

The Hollywood heavyweight also sported a chain necklace, which was just visible through the transparent fabric of his top.

Much to the delight of his South Korean fans, he spent time with them taking selfies on their phones as he walked the length of the red carpet at the city’s famous Times Square.

Earlier in the day, Brad had appeared at a press conference for the war film in the city, and made sure to give the local media his undivided attention.

Wearing a similar outfit to his premiere get-up – but minus the waistcoat and plus a fedora – the movie star happily waved to the press as he prepared to discuss Fury.

He held aloft the black item of head wear as he arrived on stage, seemingly using it as a prop. Despite only flying in the day before, Brad look fresh and casually dapper as he walked on stage.

For his appearance, the star wore a pair of black trousers with a slightly sheer black V-neck T-shirt under a linen jacket and, of course, his favourite hat.

Showing why he is still a Hollywood heartthrob, Brad wore his locks swept back and slightly gelled, showing off his famous square jawline.

The actor was joined by his Fury co-star Logan Lerman who also went for a dark coloured ensemble.

The 22-year-old wore a pair of dark denim jeans with a grey and navy plaid shirt.

In their film set in WWII, Brad plays a tank commander and Logan a young solider from his squad who develop a strong bond under fire.

Clearly that bond was not just on screen, as the beloved actor appears to have taken the younger star under his wing, and did so quite literally while they were on stage, with Brad throwing his arm around the Perks Of Being A Wallflower star.

The pair will also be walking the red carpet for the premiere in Seoul for the film, which has already hit American screens.

In the film, Brad’s character Wardaddy is a battle-hardened sergeant in command of a five-man crew attempting to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany behind enemy lines.

The film also stars Shia LaBeouf, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal and Jim Parrack.

The movie had a big opening in the US, bringing in $23.5 million in its debut weekend.

Fury now boasts fourth highest ever opening for a WWII film behind another one of Brad’s offerings, Inglorious Bastards ($38.1 million), as well as Pearl Harbor ($59.1 million) and Saving Private Ryan ($30.6 million).

It was a career best showing for director David Ayer, who is best known for his work on End Of Watch and Training Day.

Angelina Jolie named the famous person most influential to politics
Angelina Jolie may be cautious about entering a career in officebecause she’s worried about being taken seriously.

But according to a new YouGov poll, it’s she who has the most influence over our political persuasions than any other famous woman.

The actress and UN ambassador came out joint top of the survey with Sir Bob Geldof – both with 28 per cent of the vote for most positive.

Jolie was recently made an honorary dame by the Queen for her work as a UN ambassador in campaigning against rape being used as a weapon in war zones.

“When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered,” she told the December issue ofVanity Fair magazine.

“Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility.

“But I honestly don’t know in what role I would be more useful ̶ I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that could make it less possible.”

‘Selma’ actor David Oyelowo says a ‘higher power’ told him he would portray MLK Jr.

The Oscar buzz around the film “Selma” may be a pleasant surprise for the film’s star, David Oyelowo.

The actor said a “higher power” told him seven years ago that he would play Martin Luther King Jr.

The dramatic film is set during the Civil Rights Movement, and takes its name from the groundbreaking marches from Selma to Montgomery, AL in 1965. Oyelowo’s portrayal of Dr. King is being called Oscar-worthy.

“Selma” premiered on Tuesday at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles, and received a standing ovation. While Oyelowo is currently being praised for his performance, one of the film’s producers, Oprah Winfrey, initially had her doubts.

The Wrap reported that Winfrey signed on because of Oyelowo’s involvement in the project, but was unsure if he could handle the enormous role. After seeing him on camera, Winfrey reportedly saw potential, and helped the actor step into the role.

Oyelowo said that initially, the film’s director also had doubts as well.

“On July 24, 2007, I was told from above I would play this role,” Oyelowo explained. “The director at the time didn’t agree with my higher power.”

Producer Jeremy Kleiner commended the final result, especially considering the iconic status of the film’s protagonist.

“The figure of Dr King looms large,” Kleiner said.

Other producers on the film include Brad Pitt and “Slumdog Millionaire” producer Christian Colson.

“Selma” also stars Winfrey, Cuba Gooding Jr., Tim Roth, Giovanni Ribisi, Common, Tom Wilkinson, Niecy Nash, Dylan Baker, and Wendell Pierce.

Other possible Best Picture contenders include “American Sniper” starring Bradley Cooper, “Black and White” starring Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer, “The Fault in Our Stars” with Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, and “Fury” starring Brad Pitt.

“Selma” will premiere nationwide on January 9, 2015. Check out the film’s powerful trailer below.

Oooh…..I’m early on this new thread.

[Just an FYI tho......i still HATE disqus]

Anyhooooo……..Brad is such a zexy, lovely man! He deserves a zexy, lovely, strong woman like Angie. And he has her. sdo all is right in the universe. lol

Y’know…….i just dont understand how it is that there is no other HW man that i feel anyhing for. Nor any other HW female but Angie.

Its not that i am unaware of the others……both those with longevity in the biz as well as the younger crop of talent. i am aware they exist. I am just NOT interested in their life. I dont read their interviews. i dont watch their videos. And the only movies i actually fork out dollars for are Brad and Angie’s. Otherwise it has to appear on cable for me to bother watching.

Is something wrong with us JP fans? LMAO

Um…..that would be a ‘no’. lol Its just that life is too short and time is too valuable to waste it on things and folks that youre not interested in.

I don’t think Angie minds that I can look at Brad but as long that I don’t touch him. I think I’m in good terms with Angie. LOL.

Brad Pitt hopes ‘Fury’ speaks to horrors of war
SEOUL, Nov. 13 (Yonhap) — American actor Brad Pitt said Thursday he hopes his latest war film “Fury” will shed light on the grotesque reality of war in a world where violence has become more common.

“We live in violent times than ever before,” the 50-year-old said at a news conference in Seoul. “This film, for me, speaks to the horrors of war and the ridiculous fact that we can be chopping each other up in one year and the next year we sit down for a beer or a dinner.”

“Fury,” by David Ayer, is due for a South Korean release next Thursday. It portrays an American tank crew’s final push in Nazi Germany as World War II comes to an end.

Pitt and fellow cast member Logan Lerman touched down at Incheon International Airport on Wednesday for a promotional tour of the film in South Korea.

In “Fury,” Pitt plays an army sergeant named Wardaddy and leads a tank crew comprised of Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena and Jon Bernthal — a leadership role he said was fitting for a father of six.

“We are one big dysfunctional family,” Pitt said of the cast members. “Certainly as a tank commander, you have to play the position of a father. My experience with six kids came in handy at times when these guys got out of line.”

Lerman, who plays the role of a rookie soldier with no experience with a tank, said working with Pitt was a learning experience.

“Brad is an incredibly hard-working, generous person and someone who gives so much and asks for so little in return,” the 22-year-old said. “I learned a lot about myself and my own personal limits throughout this process ‘cuz I was definitely pushed to my limits.”

The movie, released in the U.S. last month, has earned a solid 70 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, a movie review compilation website, and has been critically acclaimed by The New Yorker as being “within the range of Steven Spielberg’s ‘Saving Private Ryan’ (1998) and other classics.”

Pitt and Lerman are scheduled to attend a premiere of “Fury” later in the day at Times Square in Seoul.

PICTURE EXCLUSIVE: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie cruise through Malta in a classic convertible as they film By The Sea
They have been hard at work on the set of their upcoming film, By The Sea.
And Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s working honeymoon seemed to be going well when they filmed scenes in Malta over the weekend.
The newlywed couple were seen filming scenes in a classic convertible in Gozo with Brad behind the wheel as Angelina got cosy in the passenger seat.

While he drove the car along the island, they were joined by a film crew who towed the car away once the scene was completed.
Angelina sports a blonde wig in the film while Brad has been rocking a moustache.

Brad was then seen getting items out of another vehicle as the pair enjoyed a break during the day.
The film, which is written and directed by Angelina, is the couple’s first project together since Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005 – the film which saw them falling in love both on and off screen.

By The Sea documents the challenge a long time married couple face as they go on vacation throughout Europe in the 1970s.
It sees ‘Vanessa, a former dancer, and her husband Roland, an American writer, travel the country together,’ according to IMDB.
‘They seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper and a hotel owner,’ the description added.

Speaking to USA Today, Brad recently said, ‘Yeah, it was our choice. It’s been fun. It’s been challenging but really fun.’
Speaking about the project to US TV show Extra, Angelina said of the project, ‘It’s the kind of movie we love but aren’t often cast in.
‘It’s a very experimental, independent-type film where we get to be actors together and be really raw, open, try things.’

Meanwhile, Pitt and Jolie tied the knot in August on the urging of their children, Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and six-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
All six children were very much a part of the nuptials that took place at Chateau Miraval in the South of France on August 23.
Brad Pitt recently described his wedding as ‘amazing’.
The Fury star admits their relationship feels even more secure since they tied the knot.
Asked about their intimate nuptials, the 50-year-old star told Good Morning America, on Friday: ‘It was an amazing day and I think there’s an added security that comes with it.’
Despite being very happy in his personal life, the heartthrob admits he was left feeling exhausted and traumatised for some time after filming his new World War II drama.
He told E! News: ‘I’ve always heard these stories of actors having a hard time shaking a role. It was true this time.
‘We were really embedded with this one. I think the biggest challenge was when the film starts…they’re three-and-a-half years into the war.’
He added: ‘They’ve been through Africa, they’ve been through France, they’ve been through Belgium, now they’re deep into Germany, and to feel that exhaustion, the years of just psychic trauma…I think we got that [feeling, too].’

Brad Pitt Talks ‘Fury’ And Necessity Of Indie Movies
========================================================================The average moviegoer likely wouldn’t consider “Fury,” produced on a $70 million budget, an indie flick, but Brad Pitt apparently does, which is the primary reason he did it.

“In Hollywood, big, more commercial films are being made and the smaller, more complex difficult subject matters where directors are reaching out for something more,” the 50-year-old actor said at a “Fury” press conference in South Korea on Wednesday, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “Our mandate [as movie stars] is to help these directors and give these storytellers a little extra push over the hill.”

Pitt, now 50, has certainly enjoyed a fruitful career, having starred in over 30 films and been nominated for three Oscars. The key to success, according to Pitt, is perseverance—and it also helps to love what you’re doing.

“In any career and any endeavor, you’re going to go through slumps. The point is where you go from there. It’s important not to cut the rope and bail. That slump can be very important and can inform the next decision and makes it meaningful,” the “Moneyball” star said. “There is no success without failure, and [sometimes] no failure without success. They’re bound together and you have to honor each moment and each one will find the next step you make.”

He added, “I’m a guy that loves films. Films spoke to me growing up as a kid. It showed me the world and it showed me different points of view.”

Pitt’s movie-laden childhood is one of the reasons he allowed his 13-year-old old son, Maddox, to watch “Fury,” despite its brutal depictions of violence.

“He’s a World War II buff,” Pitt told the Associated Press in October. “My father would take us to the drive-in as very young kids and we’d see Clint Eastwood movies and Kung Fu movies. The world is a beautiful place, but it’s also a very violent place. We talk about it afterwards, so I’m not so opposed.”

Just announced: @MoMAFilm screens “Unbroken” Dec. 2. Post-screening Q&A with dir. Angelina Jolie! Ticket info coming soon. #MoMAContenders

    Bringing this over…….

Just saw this on cb about ANUStain and my gawd!…….i cant believe da b!tch is so delusional! Either she is this dumb and un-self-aware or she is this devious and hypocritical and has fully gone all-in with playing the fameh0 game typically played by untalented wannabes, where she starts believing the hype generated by their pitbull PR dragqueen.

So here is the quote i saw where ANUStain is responding to a question on the HB2 RC about her “oscar buzz) [btw, in any references i make to this b!tch and 'oscar' i will make sure its a lower-case 'O' because we sure as h3ll arent talking about the Academy Award presented to talented actors and known as the] :

So they asked her about the “oscar buzz” she is receiving and this is her response:

““You can’t help but listen to it. It’s very humbling, it’s very flattering. It makes you jitter from the inside out. It’s a lot of things but mainly I’m just happy that people are receiving the film. That makes me very happy – we’re very proud of it.”

Do you see the self-delusion? The hubris? The insult to the intelligence of ordinary people? First of all, the only oscar buzz ANUStain is generating is the one she bought and paid for in her annual PR fee to her PR dragqueen.

Secondly, what “people” are “receiving” the little panCake movie? is she seriously talking about the little-movie-that-couldnt, in which she acted in no make-up and think thats Oscar-worthy?

That b!tch needs a big b!tchslap in her botoxed and fillered visage. I’m so disgusted with the entertainment media for playing up to huvsy’s games and their cowardice in not calling her out.

    So. Sickening.

I have faith, like I have with all of Brad & Angie’s work. God damn it I become a nervous wreck when something comes out, yet they always surprise us lol I remember when Angie was about to do the London PSVI Summit, Love my dear I can’t tell you how much I was willing her on and that was before it even started, just hoping it all goes swimmingly, and touch wood it did. It went beautifully and she made a major Impact and was bestowed with Damehood for all her hard selfless humanitarian work. So I am back to square one in my nervous wreckness *if that is a word* and willing for Unbroken to do the business.

    they are so romantic

  • Love Conquers All

Preach, Peach Phool. Angie has surprise us and her haters and her fans. When Maleficent was about to come out, experts and haters said that it would become a box office bomb. And then all sudden Maleficent became a powerhouse this year with Angie leading on her name alone making 756 mil. Then when Angie host London PSVI Summit and with that she impress the individuals, reporters, diplomats, US Sectary John Kerry and even the Queen herself. After that she became dame, in which was wonderful surprise itself. Angie has just amazed us so much s o far in this year. Hopefully everything goes well with Unbroken and it’s Oscar chances. But again I trust her hundred percent to excel her directorial second film.

  • Love Conquers All

Oh. Okay thanks for sharing that info Wonderbust.

LMAO Looks like hags are reading every single Brad interview and they call themselves die hard Ticky fans, bunch of traitor’s lol, still hung up on all things Brad & Angie.

PS what was the point of Squiggy going to UK and not attending the premier with his Hagtress? Maybe they
