Benedict Cumberbatch Opens Up About 'The Imitation Game': 'It's Not A Period Drama'
Benedict Cumberbatch keeps it dapper in a suit while attending a special screening for his latest film The Imitation Game held at the 92nd Street Y on Sunday (November 16) in New York City.
The 38-year-old actor was joined by the director of undergraduate film studies at Columbia University and talk moderator Annette Insdorf as they dished about his character Alan Turing.
“I’m gonna keep this brief. I am quite simple — trust me! It’s a very daunting thing when you look at what his mind gave the world,” Benedict expressed at the event (via THR). “It’s not a period drama. Everything that he experienced influenced his mind, which, again, amplifies the volume of the tragedy of his death. He’s become a gay icon because he was true to his identity.”
