That´s all admirable, but directing an episode of TV show is different. You know when you go over board and screw up, you can´t ruin the whole show, because there are other episodes with other directors, who can save it, and people watch it for the longer run, for the storylines and such. If you ruin as a director the movie, you ruin the whole movie, so it could make someone to hold back creatively, not to use all the ideas that are original.
