Solange Knowles Supports 'Blackout Black Friday,' Postpones Puma Collaboration Launch

Solange Knowles had planned on releasing her new Puma collaboration on Friday (November 28), but in support of the Blackout Black Friday campaign, she has postponed the release.

“To echo my feelings shared surrounding the outcome of the Michael Brown case, I have solely decided to postpone the release of my Puma collaboration originally scheduled to release this Friday November 28th to Monday December 1st. I am truly grateful for everyone’s support and excited to share this collection with you soon,” she wrote in a message on Instagram.

The Blackout Black Friday campaign was started by the organization Blackout for Human Rights, which is “composed of a network of artists, activists, filmmakers and lawyers who fight to address inequalities and injustice in America.”

“In the wake of #Ferguson, it’s become painfully clear that people of color, and Black people in particular, are still unjustly targeted by law enforcement and the criminal justice system,” the organization said. “The lack of indictment in the deaths of Michael Brown of Ferguson, MO, John Crawford III of Ohio, and many, many more victims of police deaths are unacceptable in this modern society. To that end, we will cease spending money on American retail corporations until a change is made.”
