Richard Armitage Dresses Like James Bond For 'Da Man' Cover

Richard Armitage is the perfect gentleman in a tuxedo on the cover of Da Man magazine’s December 2014/January 2015 issue, out on newsstands now!

Here’s what the 43-year-old English actor had to share with the mag:

On his upcoming film The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies: “It’s the last piece of Peter Jackson’s explorations of Tolkien’s works about Middle Earth, so expect the big finale before the curtain falls. There is a big clue in the title, but rest assured that a pretty spectacular battle is coming your way. As for my character Thorin, he is spiraling downwards but will rise again like all the best tragic heroes in literature.”

On his personal style: “Effort-full. People like to dress me up as James Bond, but I’m happiest in jeans and a T-shirt, with dirt on me, doing something manual. Otherwise, everyone looks good in a well-fitted, white button-down shirt and aviators.”

On his 2015 resolutions: “Read more, dream more, smile more, eat less, complain less, frown less. That’s enough for now.”

Why is he closeted? It is really self hating. Its also insulting to gay people. He should be out and proud. I would like him, but for this hypocrisy.

  • Mari

    he also gay?

  • Helms

He is not gay. That’s a disgusting and false accusation especially when he’s not here to defend himself. He has dated several women. Mind your own business. He’s an amazing and darling person and I’m glad society hasn’t seemed to ruin him so far.

  • Helms

No he’s definitely not. That’s just rude, baseless gossip.

  • Mari

Ok ! Just ask. Everyone isso talking He is and i never see why.

  • Helms

What…does your comment mean? All I know is Richard is too honorable and inwardly good to be that way. Until I hear him say it in person or see a photograph of him…doing something…with another guy I would never believe it. Until then I remain loyal to him.

  • Mina102

His sexuality is no one’s business.

  • Mari

never mind, meant no harm. He is adorable

  • Helms

Exactly. But I’m glad he isn’t gay anyway. It’s wrong to be.

  • Helms

    He is indeed.

  • Nicola

Did you seriously just say that Richard is too good and honorable of a person to be gay?

  • Nicola

Richard seems to keep his private life private so, while there’s been speculation for awhile, he’s never publicly stated whether he’s attracted to men, women, or both.

  • Helms

    Yes I did.

  • Helms

That’s correct. He does. Which is why I’m upset at people calling him gay when he isn’t. There’s a purity in his eyes and I would be heart-broken if he ever stooped so low as to let such darkness into his soul. It’s a sin, mentioned three times in the Bible and whether he’s Christian or not (which I believe he is) it’s still wrong. I pray he remains loyal to God.

  • Helms

Besides this article had nothing to do with him being gay, so I have no idea why it was brought up in the first place. We should be cheering him on and discussing better things. For example: his acting skills are totally amazing,

  • Nicola

Don’t use your religion to mask your bigotry. His sexual orientation has no bearing on anything so even if he’s been in a committed relationship with a man for the past decade, it wouldn’t change a thing about who he is as a person or actor.

  • Jim Peterson

    Lol.

  • Helms

Are you so petty as to reduce to name calling? This is a discussion and I have every right to a different opinion than you. If I had embraced LGBTs then my opinion would be paraded but if I stand for what I believe in, what the Christian Bible does say (Leviticus 20:13, Leviticus 18:22, Genesis 19: 1-11, Romans 1:18-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11), then I am thrown insults. If you would bother looking up the verses, you would see everything I have said is directly from my holy texts. I am only a Christian who hopes that morality would prevail in this person who I admire. That is all.

  • Susan

See Helms’ horrific sick homophobia based on her so called love of g-d? This is my very point. Stars have to be out and proud. Homophobia, racism, antisemitism, etc. is a sickness, hatreds that are wrong and unchristian and irreligious. Luke Evans is out and proud and so talented. He is an inspiration. Not this closeted person.

  • Helms

Susan. I do love God. I love him enough to not be afraid of you or others who have nothing better to do and put up with your malign allegations. Homophobia implies fear. I do not fear gays. Nor do I hate them despite what you may think. I love the person. I hate the sin. Please, this is becoming ridiculous. I have my opinion, you have yours. Stop slandering Armitage and I. He’s a good actor, and he should not be talked about in this fashion, where he cannot defend himself against accusations.

  • Susan

Helms is quite the hypocrite – she hates the sin. He is not sinning. He was born gay and being gay is not a sin. Sodomy is natural in the animal world and the human world. Its Helms that is sinful with her homophobia and hatred. I don’t like you Helms or your bigoted hateful g-d.

  • Helms

You must be pretty weak to let mere words hurt you Susan. Yes it is a sin. Did you see all those verses I mentioned from the Bible. People are not born that way. There is always a choice. Susan you need to calm yourself. I don’t hate anyone. I hate the act. Just like I hate abortion, but not the people doing the abortion. You may not like me and you don’t have to, but you can disagree with me in a polite way. Can you see what you’re saying. I am not a hypocrite either. How am I? I didn’t say I hated anyone. You’re taking this too far. If anyone is a hypocrite it’s you, calling me and my God a bigot. It’s disgraceful and if that’s not hate I don’t know what is. You know something? I feel sorry for you. I feel sorry that you’re blind and lash out without thinking. I feel sorry you don’t know God. I feel sorry you don’t know how to be respectful, as I am being to you at this moment, despite all you’ve said.

  • Nicola

You do realize the actor in question who you admire so dearly is an active supporter of the LGBT community, correct? I’m sure he’d be highly amused at the words you choose to spew in defense of your homophobia.

  • Helms

I’ve never heard of such a thing. I’ve never heard him say he did. Some may say he is a supporter, but him saying it in person is different. I’ve thoroughly researched him and never have I encountered that. I am not homophobic. Have you read anything I stated: I am a Christian who acknowledges homosexuality is a sin that can be repented of, while loving and pitying those people and the people who support their lifestyle. I think Armitage would understand me. He would understand that is my religion, that it is my opinion, and that I have said nothing hateful or cruel. Only that I believe it’s wrong. Like the example I used earlier: abortion. You must learn that you live in a world where people have different opinions, and even if you oppose those ideals, you must be respectful.

  • Susan

Helms, I’m so glad I’m not a christian because to be christian as you define it, would be disgusting and degrading. My g-d is loving and accepting and does not danm people to h e l l for being what he created. He does not call what he made sinful. He is not judgmental. He does not expect people to ask for redemption for being what he or she was intended by nature to be. I suppose you have reproduced and made other haters like you. That is why the world is so bad and why celebrities like Armitage must stand up and be out and proud.

  • Helms

God didn’t make people that way. That’s the point. There’s no such thing as a gay gene. God made Adam and Eve. If he wished there to be homosexuals he would have made two guys or two girls and then there would be none of us. You wouldn’t exist. It is against nature not just God. A male and a female reproduce, so nature wouldn’t make anything that wouldn’t. Show me a picture of Armitage kissing another guy or saying he’s gay in person on a video. Show me where it says he contributes to the LGBT community. Until then I will deny what you say about him. You have no evidence. I have evidence. He has dated several women, kissed women onscreen, and has an entire female fan base dedicated to him. You must live a horrible life if you think the world is bad. I think the world is good, but filled with evil things that can harm people. It isn’t just about morality or religion though it is important. Being homosexual also has detrimental health affects: They have higher risk for AIDS, HIV, and other STDs, they have shorter life spans, are more likely to drink, commit suicide, and smoke. It’s on several medical websites. God knew that homosexuality is not only a sin, but can hurt you, that’s why the old and new testament prohibits it. What g-d are you talking about anyways? Islamic people and Jews also read the same old testament as I do and are against it, they worship the same God. It’s not just Christians. For the last time. I do not hate anyone. I just hate what they do. I don’t hate smokers. I hate smoking. I don’t hate drunk people. Just drinking. Do you not understand?

  • Susan

Helms, keep on going. The more you post, the more you prove my point. Lee Pace and Armitage are in a committed gay relationship and should be out and proud. There are plenty of Helms out there to shout down and shut up. They are responsible for so much misery and hatred.

  • Helms

Lee Pace is his co-star. Co-stars have to work together for films which he has had to too, for the Hobbit. If you did your research you would know this year he dated Annabel Cooper. Misery? Hatred? I am telling the truth. I have repeatedly explained me and my beliefs to you. I have been kind, civil, respectful, and polite. I have expressed my views with sincerity and honor, in an educated and open way. So far you’ve called me and my God a bigot, told me I’m responsible for misery and hatred, and a homophobic. All of the above are false. It is you who makes the appearance of a mean and close-minded person, as though you despise everyone who doesn’t believe in what you believe. I can post what I choose. This is a discussion. A discussion. It’s not meant to be one-sided. I have friends with the opinion that you have, however they convey their opinions with respect and understanding. You could do the same. I will pray for you tonight and hope you one day acquire dignity and courtesy towards others, as well as understanding what is good and true. I pray you find God before it is too late. May he bless you and forgive you.
